Hey guys. Today I was listening to last week's Kotaku's podcast and they were talking about whether or not it's a good idea to have porn distrubeted on the PSN or XBLA. They also revealed that the Japanese PSN has porn available for download already and they justify it vecause the Japanese, which we all know by now, pixilate the genetelia. 
 
Personally I think that it'll be stupid if they allow it to be downloaded here in the US. Think about it, politicians and a lot of other people try to ban games that are rated M because they either have too much violence or too much crude language. Also, when it comes to games like GTA, idiots like Jack Thompson, try their hardest, to no avail, to ban the damn game for stupid reasons like cop killing. Do I even have to elaborate on the Hot Coffee Mod?
 
So imagine if they do bring porn to the PSN or XBLA, people like Jack will take advantage and bring both companies to court with a whole mess of lawsuits. And god knows that they might actually win and we can say hello to even more stricter censorship across the gaming industry. Besides, if you think about it you already have porn via the PS3's browser and the Opera browser on the Wii.

From a business point of view it's good for the company developing the material. But it just doesn't feel right to have any material on a console that's pornographic in any way. They were made for games last time I checked.

Is it really necessary to have porn available for download on PSN or XBLA? Really? It's not enough that you can buy it in a shop or download it from the internet in other ways? We really need another option when it comes to getting our sweaty flesh fix? Maybe it's like those people who watch so much porn, they have to keep watching stuff that gets increasingly bizarre just to get off. Maybe they're tired of getting porn the normal way, and only this kinky console-related method will truly get them jazzed.

you can already watch porn by downloading them from your computer of downloading using their browser

Porn will be here no matter what media player or system its on.  And I'm sure people with find a way to put it on the psn just like they've figured out how to put it on other shit.

If i want porn its straight to the computer....it has more free space

Why would you want porn on your PS3 or 360. Apart from the novelty of seeing it there which will wear off pretty quickly why not just watch it on the PC or video if you're oldschool.
 
And I won't accept the HD argument. It's not nice seeing some hot girl getting banged in the shooter with specs of shit everywhere.

While I agree it's a bad idea for image issues, if you had to put in credit card info every time you tried to get some porn, it might become too bothersome for kids to download it.

I don't see why, as a consumer, it shouldn't be made available...
you can get movies for download on your console already, why not ones of a pornographic nature...

I am not joking when i say i saw a porn UMD for sale in HMV about 2 years ago. I didn't think anything about it then. There was only one of them there.
 
But i don't know if porn on download services would be a good thing. I mean, you have your PC or Laptop for that in your own time, and consoles should be used mainly for gaming. Of course that's just my thoughts.

its o.k. in my book it just needs some kind of parental controls. I hate censorship and don't really care what Jack Thompson thinks either. Oh and Hillary Clinton can go screw herself... If the porn was easy to get it might keep Bill from cheating on her!!!! The corrupt government should not be allowed to censor are choices and freedom!!!!!
