The PlayStation TV is a media streaming device based on the PS Vita. It can play many (though not all) Vita game cards, as well as supporting some PSN games and PS4 Remote Play.

Thinking about buying a PS TV. What games do you recommend ?

If you've never played a Disagea game before, I'd recommend checking out Disgaea 4: A Promise Revisited. It's a more accessible entry in one of my favourite SRPG series. It also comes with all the dlc that was originally sold for the PS3 version.

Wipeout, Zero Escape, Gravity Rush and Dokuro (a must if are into challenging puzzles)

Great vita games are really few, and buying vita tv will make them even more fewer.

I really recommend waiting E3 because Sony might slash the Vita price this year.

I dunno if I would recommend buying one. I bought one and about 50% of games aren't compatible. I particularly wanted to play Uncharted Golden Abyss or Gravity Rush neither of which are compatible. Really all you can play on it is a bunch of indie games.

A word of warning - the compatibility list is a little bare. I bought a PSTV hoping to get a bunch of Vita games and my library currently sits at four games:

    • Batman Arkham Origins Blackgate
    • Freedom Wars
    • Killzone Mercenary
    • Toukiden

The only games on my 'wish list' right now are Danganronpa 1 & 2.

The good news is, if you are into indies and JRPGs I think there are some good uns (but I play indies elsewhere and am not big on handheld JRPG ga,es). Also, if you want to buy digital PSP games you have a lot to choose from.

I'm pretty happy with my PSTV, but compatibility issues continue to be a bummer:

    • Almost none of the HD collections work (no Sly, no Jax, no Ratchet, no MGS), which is weird since they make no use of the touch controls.
    • Certain games did work (Sonic Racing Transformed, Jet Set Radio, etc), but don't any more.
    • Retail versions of certain titles work, but not their digital counterparts.

    Sigh.

You can check out the list of compatible games here.

If you have/had a PS3, then you've probably already had the chance to play the bulk of the Vita's compatible "AAA" titles, since they're mostly ports.

@whitegreyblack: What are the games you wanted to play that are not compatible? I'm thinking about selling my Vita and replacing it with the TV since I don't play it much outside of my home.

@limpingfish: Exactly. They don't want you to play MGS on Vita TV because they want you to play it on PS3.

@mendelson9: not many, but a few notable ones (impossible of course because of the touch features) were gravity rush, uncharted, and a couple more I can not remember right now. Tearaway is getting a ps4 edition so no worries there. So many of the smaller games are ps4 cross buy so I play them there.

Bottom line, I'd say grab a PSTV if you can pick it up very cheap but it has not been a real spectacular buy for me. If it even had a netflix app it would have increased the value to me by a great deal.

Very happy you made this thread. I picked up a PlayStation TV the other week and I've been playing the hell out of Persona 4 Golden. I Didn't know that the Danganronpa games were compatible so that'll probably be next on my list.

Personally I wouldn't want to play them on a TV screen, but if you have no other way of playing them then I'd recommend Virtue's Last Reward and the Danganronpagames. VLR especially, though I'd recommend you play 999 first. (Preferably on the DS, but the iOS version will at least get you the story)
