Remixed Trailer

SmackDown vs. Raw 2009 Likes & Dislikes

What I liked about the game

  • The Road to WrestleMania: A superb addition to the series and something that should've been done a long time ago.
  • No more collision detection problems: It's about time.
  • Career Mode: Bigger and better than ever.
  • Match commentary: They finally seem to have gotten it right.

What I disliked about the game

  • Clipping issues: It is incomprehensible to me why these problems still persist.
  • No "heels" in Road to WrestleMania: Would've been fun to play as a bad guy.
  • Create-A-Finisher: Well, at least it's a start...
  • No Road to WrestleMania online co-op: Ridiculous when you think about it.

The Lowdown

After last year's awful SmackDown vs. Raw 2008, my faith in the SmackDown series wittered and died.  I don't know what came over me, but after reading about the new Road to WrestleMania game mode on Wikipedia, I had a sudden burst of faith wash over me.  Had THQ finally come to their senses?  I finally gave in and bought the game.  I don't regret it one bit.  Although some of the stories were far-fetched and not too interesting, the Road to WrestleMania mode ended up being what the franchise needed to get back on it's feet.  The Career mode has been revamped once again but this time, they seem to have gotten it right.  Although the clipping issues still persist, which is baffling with today's technology, the collision detection has finally been remedied.  With some downloadable content headed it's way soon, SmackDown vs. Raw 2009 will just keep getting better and better.  Let's just hope they keep up the trend.
