A damn shame, but saw it coming. Defy seems like a shitty company with the way they fire people with absolutely no notice.

@nigeth: Wholeheartedly agree with you. Dan and Jeff's internet fame made creating levels for SMM 1000x more interesting. If you have no following, you're basically putting a ton of time into something and sending it into the nether, or desperately tweeting popular streamers in an attempt to see your level get played. Disappointed that no one really brought this up on the podcast. Their experience with SMM is so far removed from your average gamer's experience. Brad was absolutely spot on with his critique in many ways, he just didn't mention directly how their following altered their experience.

SMM is a very hollow experience when you don't have a bunch of people lining up to play your levels. It's no different than LBP in that way, the tools are just easier to use.

I mean, it's their list so it shouldn't matter that much. GB is all about their personal experience with a game, they've never cared much about what the "average user" gets to experience when making the site GOTY. It doesn't try to in any way be an "objective" list.

I agree, but I still feel it's a massive reason of why Dan and Jeff have enjoyed SMM so much. I would've like if it was brought up at least, although Brad kind of did it. I don't think Dan would've enjoyed SMM nearly as much as he did if he didn't have thousands of people waiting for his levels + Patrick. I do obviously understand that he does have that, but I think my point still stands.

The way they argued for it did sound very objective to be fair. It felt like Jeff and Dan couldn't really see Brad's point because they hadn't really had those issues due to their "bubble", so to speak.

In the end it's them arguing about a top 1 spot, so it's gonna sound more "objective" than it really is because it's about filibustering the game you like to the top spot. You don't want to give too much ground. That's just how this has always worked.

I know its a little late now probably, but i do see just cause 3 near the bottom of the popular list. I think maybe it takes people a while to watch the newer videos.

That's the EX video. The normal JC3 QL and the Xenoblade QL still hasn't updated there, so I'm gonna assume it's broken!

Okay, I know what you're talking about. I'm on my phone so it doesn't show that stuff. I'll look at it when I get home, sorry.

No problem! Yeah, that stuff doesn't show up on phones.

@travisrex: I'm referring to the list on the right side of the screen (which can be found when you click on whatever news story or podcast):

No Caption Provided

It consists of the ten most popular items (video, article, podcast, whatever) on the site. That hasn't updated with either the Just Cause or Xenoblade QL for me, which makes me think it has stopped updating. Does that menu show either of those for you? Might be a caching issue for me or something like that.

I assume it's stopped working because it hasn't updated with either the Xenoblade or Just Cause Quick Look, and both of those would've for sure cracked that list by now. I'm talking about the list you can find here, for example.

Brad has said (on NeoGAF I believe) that that's not something they're gonna start doing. It would require one of them to sit through the 3 hour long podcast and take notes which will make preparing + recording + editing/note taking take up a whole day of work for the person who has that responsibility (Brad on the Bombcast, Vinny on the Beastcast). There's probably never been that much demand for it either.

The best you can hope for is fan made versions of this. Qlcrew.com has begun experimenting with user made timestamps for podcasts now.
