I have played about 4 to 5 hours so far, and I am actually enjoying it. It's not pretty, it's not modern, it's a throw back to an old type of shooter. That in itself will be an issue for most people and be the divide between people having a good time and people who will hate it. But I can't say I'm not having fun, I've laughed a good few times, and the arcade style shooting is a nice change.

There are some pretty great levels, most fun I've had so far involves being shrunk Duke. Killing pig cops who are hiding under styrofoam cups and using burgers as a means to avoid grills reminds me of the old micro machine games (and I bloody loved those). Also when Duke spouts his one liners in his high pitched mini voice, it's hard not to smile.

I went into it knowing it would feel dated, but that doesn't mean it's bad. It never take's itself seriously, it's rude, and it's completely unashamed of itself.

Also I've been playing on the pc, which I think is the best place to play it. Load times are minimal and it looks fine, not terrible, not great but fine, and I haven't suffered any frame rate drops.

I'm not going to recommend buying it because from what I've heard load times on consoles are too long, and there are frame rate issues. But by all means rent it, just for curiosity sake to see what on earth this game has turned out like after being in limbo.

Also Duke jumping in a mirror...priceless.

I think this movie will actually be good.

Also check out who is directing this, David Fincher, ie the director of Fight Club, Se7ven, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

So personally I think it's in good hands.

You say that, but I think I may test it out...probably will be intoxicated as I think that's the only way.

DICE technically haven't confirmed it. Only some bloke from EA Europe said there was a sequel in production, which isn't exactly a solid confirmation.

@MysteriousBob: I really enjoyed the first person platforming, especially the shopping mall level. I personally felt they nailed the feel and controls, it wouldn't have had that sense of speed and danger if it was in 3rd person.

But each to his own.

I enjoyed Mirror's Edge a lot (would personally have given it 4 stars) it was such a refreshing take, and it had a beautiful art style, so it gets my vote. Besides I want to see Mirror's Edge with a less linear path, which I hope will happen if DICE make a sequel.
