There is a post up on the battlefield UK forums explaining the main reason they don't release mod tools. I'll have to see if I can find it again.

Basically it boils down to some legality issues. Some of the tools they use the develop maps and such are middleware that they cannot legally license out to make mod tools.

People getting up and arms and judging the game based off of the number of classes are just being silly. The main thing wrong with 4 classes in BC2 is how retardedly overpowered the medic class ended up being (LMG + Medkit + Defib with barely any cooldown) it can be game breaking in certain scenarios, as I'm sure we've all seen a few massive medic revive orgies in maps like Nelson Bay on rush. If they don't make a large mistake like that with the medic class like that again it will be fine. From the info released so far battlefield 3 looks like it is shaping up to be truly epic and a worthy successor to the true battlefield games.

I would implode from sheer joy is this happened.

Steam overlay works fine for me with latest punkbuster, I don't get kicked in 2142 and can use the overlay fine. In BF2 I don't get kicked, however the overlay just doesn't work :/. PB is pretty random about stuff like that though, sometimes it'll update and kick steam overlay users and sometimes they fix it. (one of the many reasons I loathe punkbuster)

2142 > all. 2142 is the most original and balanced bf game IMO. I <3 titan mode.
