The most frustrating thing about all of this is that the remaining staff probably can't speak openly about what happened and how they really feel about it. I would really like to know what their view is on the future of GB. If GB even has a future because this situation is bad.

The worst part of this is that people lost their jobs. I hope Jason and Jess land on their feet.

The second worst is thing that GB really need to do damage control now if they want to keep what ever fanbase is back. Fandom is clearly in control and premium subscription is clearly not an viable option. Why pay money to the corporation that was responsible for these firings?

But given that GB is owned by Fandom I'm doubtful that they can really speak openly about all the sh*t that just went down and what they think the future is.

Well, GB certainly had a long run. Some real questionable sh*t went down over the last two years. I'm still not a fan of the way Jeff was just got fired out of the blue and everyone here just seems to think that was okay.

GB had been through a lot of different acquisitions but I think this is going to be the end. I think this site has a maximum of 6-12 months left.

Luckily I found other alternatives to GB:

• Nextlander (the closest thing you'll find to a GB alternative. Just happy to see Vinny, Alex and Brad hanging out and playing games. Love when they have Abby Russell on.)
• MinnMax (probably the coziest gaming channel on Youtube. Love that they occasionally do streams where they meet up physically in the same room.)
• Play, Watch, Listen (Alanah Pearce's podcast with Troy Baker, Austin Wintory and Mike Bithell. Probably my favorite video game related podcast at the moment.)
• Fire Escape Cast (Dan Ryckert, Mike Mahardy and Mary Kish's podcast. Also a lot of fun)

I think the best option for the remaining GB crew is to start up their own thing. If that is something they want to do. It would probably also be a good thing for them to build up their own thing from scratch. The name Giant Bomb will for me always have a certain association with Ryan and Jeff Gerstmann. Despite whatever talent the new people can bring to the table something can change so much that it's not GB and people have very strong opinions about what GB is or should be. So maybe calling it quits and use this a an opportunity to build something of their own would be an option for the remaining crew.

But like Jeff Grubb said himself, it's hard to justify premium subscriptions when they clearly don't go to the crew and/or this site. This way of doing business is just not viable or secure anymore.

Would not blame the remaining crew if they see this as an opportunity to look for other things to do as well.

Giant Bomb was something that meant a lot to me for many years. It helped me through a lot of my younger years. It was always a small beacon of joy whenever a new QL or video dropped. And I felt that way for many years.

Broke fellow here. I have been thinking of getting Death Stranding for PS4 Amateur (basic potato edition) but I can't seem to find any info confirming that you're actually able to get the new Director's Cut content on the PS4 version. Can someone please confirm or deny if it's possible to get the new content on the PS4 edition?

If it's not I'm not interested in buying it.

Oh you can buy them in my country most places now. That I can't afford to buy one since I'm a broke AF student is another story.

But I think my main issue with GB today is, like someone else already said, that the chemistry mostly isn't there. Except for maybe Jan, who seems to be a social chameleon that kind blend in most places, the rest of the crew seem more like employees than friends. And of course they are employees but when GB started out it just had a different energy than it does now. It was clear that Jeff, Ryan, Vinny and Brad were also friends outside of GB.

You don't really get that feel with the new crew.

But other video game channels have that friendship feel/chemistry these days.

Regarding the negativity I have found other outlets that are a little more positive.

Nextlander is the obvious one if you just miss Vinny, Brad and Alex.

Play, Watch, Listen with Alanah Pearce, Austin Wintory, Troy Baker and Mike Bithell has probably become my new favorite video game podcast. Also the 3 idiots and a broad podcast Alanah does once a month is just stupidly funny and makes me laugh in a way a podcast hasn't done in a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time.

Fire Escape Cast with Dan Ryckert, Mary Kish and Mike Mahardy is also alright.

MinnMax show is also okay. Mostly just listen to it if I need to have something on in the background.

Didn't read all the posts in this thread, but I just want to say I find it totally fair to post your opinions of this site as long as you can do it in a constructive way.

I personally still support this site, but it doesn't appeal to me the same way it did in the beginning. Play, Watch, Listen is probably my favorite gaming related podcast at this point. Nextlander has some of the "old school" GB East feel so I also like their stuff as well. At least the Nextlander podcast.

Also started to follow Funhaus mostly because of Jacob and Jon. But I also like Charlie and Patrick.

A lot of the new GB shows are just not for me. I still listen to the bombcast, I watch UPF and I like the dumptruck and that's pretty much it for me.

I could become more specific as to which shows don't appeal to me and why, but I don't think that would accomplish anything and some people might get hurt even if I only mean it in a constructive way. In stead I'm just not going to do that.

The shortest way I can say it without being to specific is that after the exit of Vinny, Alex and Brad GB took a direction with most of its new content that just doesn't appeal to me and in my opinion has anything to do with what GB is.

Now if that really is the direction that the GB crew want to take the site in then that's their decision. That direction might just not be for me. But for now there is still just enough for me to support it. But nothing lasts forever and I have come to terms with the fact that GB might just not appeal as much to me anymore as it used.

I might also just have changed a bit through the years and so have some of my priorities and preferences. It happens.

A pretty weak "acquisition" considering that all Bungie games will still come out to Xbox. Sony needs to be more aggressive in their acquisition game if they want to win this war. AND Sony needs a 1 to 1 equivalent of game pass.

Xbox honestly offers a much better customer experience. It's hard to compete with game pass and Sony aren't even trying.
