I just beat the demo tonight.  First, after playing with the move controllers in the open beta a little I'm finding them much more workable...I wasn't having to think about them after a while.  The only thing is the shooting is still a bit jumpy for me...I'm hoping the sharpshooter helps that.  I also discovered how to lock-on targets which really helps..although admittedly I feel I'm cheating a little (even though it's built into the game.)  I did like the jet packs.  Makes for an interesting strategy in that with the jet pack your cover button becomes the jet so you have to decide if you want to switch to another gun in a given engagement so you can have cover or continue with the jet pack and avoid fire by maneuvering.   The graphics are of course gorgeous as were 2's.  While it's scripted, I didn't see any "monster closets" a la CoD.   All in all, I'm looking forward to getting it on the 22nd.  One other thing...this demo is a good deal longer than the Killzone 2 one.

Well, I decided to give it a try...we'll see....often workout videos aren't tough enough (although I have tried some of Mindy Mylrea's videos and they *are* tough.)  The other thing is that a video is obviously a set routine as opposed to classes where the instructor can vary things up a bit (and most make it a point to do so.)  I'm hoping this new genre of "games" can provide workouts that are both challenging enough for people already fit *and* not become rote.

Sony sounds like they had a strong showing.  Nintendo....not so much for the core demographic.  I was hoping they'd show something that would make the wii a must have as I'd love to try EA active but I'm not going to buy a wii just for that.  I have the pressers on my DVR so I'll have to watch and see for myself.

I just had mine fail after two years.  One of my Friends had his original unit fail twice and  he replaced with a new arcade.  In response to what Lind said, if it's failing within six months in stress tests that's unacceptable.   Even if someone has the time to game 6 hrs a day it should last three years in my opinion (assuming it's properly cared for,  well ventilated, not move it around while it's on, etc.)

I have to agree with Black_Raven.   I got my 360 a little over two years ago and had no problems before Friday night when 10 minutes into playing Gears 2 (I was in the last act!) it got an E74....bricked!!  It was odd that it happened at that time as I've played it all summer when my house is 10 degrees warmer and it never overheated. (I also keep a fan running to keep the area cool.)  Anyway, coffin is on it's way and I'll hopefully get to beat Gears in three weeks.  Thank goodness I have a PS3!!  I should add one of my Friends had his original unit brick twice and after the second time he bought a new arcade unit  (which hopefully doesn't have fatal flaw of the older models.)   If my unit bricks again I may do likewise.

Well, I'm enjoying the game.   I just watched the Fox Gamers Weekly review and they didn't care for it.  (bad camera, repetitive, boring story, etc.) The reviews have been very mixed.  I do have to comment on the "bad camera" comments we've seen in reviews. I played though the demo and am about 2 1/2 hours into the game.  The camera isn't perfect.  However, if you switch to iso mode it works relatively well.  In the standard mode I did have times I couldn't see what I was doing.  However, that's does happen occasionally in any game where you don't control the camera (GoW: Chains of Olympus for the PSP is a fun game but it occasionally has those issues as well.)

I agree.  I actually really liked the demo...the story grabbed me right in. (I have my pre-order sitting on the kitchen table to be played tonight.)  Heck, even Jeff G. said on the podcast he's not a hater and intends to play more of it.  If you check the reviews they were quite mixed.

I too am disappointed by how low some of the reviews were.   Quite a range.  Seems the reviewers either loved it or hated it. However, given the mixed reaction on the podcasts I'm not totally surprised.  As for me, I'm picking my copy up tomorrow!

I did see one review that was substandard.  However, having played through the demo I have to disagree with that reviewer.   It's not perfect but it's a darn good game with an engaging story in my opinion.  The demo led me to reserve a copy for day one pickup.  (But again, that's my personal opinion.)
