Giant Bomb x Evangelion Anime Intro Mashup

Happy 2016 everybody! What better way to start off the new year than with ANIME!!!!
I was inspired by some of the work Fun Punditry (@somestickguy_) has been making throughout 2015, and decided to create my own TV intro mashup. Behold! A mashup of everybody's favorite anime, Neon Genesis Evangelion. Hope you guys enjoy!
Some behind the scenes stuff for anybody who is interested:
- Some members of the Giant Bomb crew and frequent guests replace some characters from Evangelion and this had an influence over what images and clips you see in this intro. Here are the main ones (You can probably guess why I choose some of the guys to replace these characters):
- Dan--Shinji Ikari
- Jeff--Misato Katsuragi
- Drew--Rei Ayanami
- Brad--Asuka Langley Soryu
- Jason--Gendo Ikari
- Vinny--Ritsuko Akagi
- The easy part for me was the ending with the super fast cuts. The hardest part was actually the beginning. Trying to find clips of an EVA spinning around, characters looking straight at the camera, random shooting stars and space symbols, characters looking out over a sunset, etc.
- I always thought this, but editing this thing together really shows how weird this intro is. Random two second shots of characters sitting around. Imagery that only makes sense to people who have seen the entire show. Having text that fades in and out, while some text jump cuts in. Some credits appearing longer than others. That's not to say this is the only anime/TV intro that has weird stuff in it, but going through those 90 seconds frame by frame really shows how strange that intro is at times.
- This is a few months old now, but the 4:20 9/11 stuff is a reference to this. It seemed appropriate since the Rebuild movies have titles like 2.22, 3.33, and the final movie is now apparently going to be called Evangelion: 3.0+1.0, 'cus sure, why not.
If somebody could get Dan to watch Evangelion, I would forever be in your debt.
By the way, yes, Evangelion is my favorite anime.
