Well it's offically begun: the 2010 winter olympic games. Man have we kicked !@$ so far. Let's sum it up:

-Luger tragically dies in a training run

-Vancover decides to be super warm and rainy (great for skiing!)

-hydrolics in the opening get stuck...just wow

In related news, a U.S. snowboarder was interviewed and asked how it felt to be in the olympics. His response quoted:

I can't believe that they had Nancy Greene help light the olympic torch. I mean, yeah, she was the first woman to win a gold medal at the winter olympics, and she also won another two medals that year alone. I lived in a resort called Sun Peaks, for several years and she was our mascot, so I can say that she is the biggest wino in Canada. She used to do this presentation every Sunday called "The Welcome Reception," that basically told guests about the different activities there was to be had at Sun Peaks; yet, every time she showed up she was drunk to point you could barely understand her.  Rick Hanson though, good choice for a torch bearer.

Yep, the Olympics are now officially in Open Beta.

Ceremonies were amazing. I was lucky enough to attend them and be part of the lights in the crowd.

Watching the face of Wayne Gretzky, staring and waiting for those stupid hydraulic pillars not doing anything was pretty damn funny.

Completely missed the opening ceremony. =/

hehe, i didn't see much of anything. I was playing my DS while listening to everything. fell asleep during the ceremonies too because i was too lazy to go turn the volume up (the volume level on CTV was for some reason, very, very low) so i ended up falling asleep during the whole mechanism "fail" as people have been talking about.   still, anthem was very... ugh  "

I missed the opening ceremonies, and in a way, I'm glad I did.
 
A 2.5 minute version of our national anthem? Unless it was rock-opera I'm disgusted.
