Interesting discussion. Seems like so many reviews are done by superfans. This is a bit more level-headed.
Agreed. I came here to get a viewpoint that might be more similar to my own, since the big Souls fans are gone from GB. My history with the Souls games is very similar to these guys: appreciation without fandom. I love Tamoor, but hearing that he loves this game doesn't really mean much to me. If he didn't like it, now that might be something.
It seems like there are just enough bones thrown to those of us who haven't been able to really get sucked in before between checkpointing, horse riding, fast-travel, etc. that this might be the one. Or this will just be another From game that I have thought was the one.
1. Daughter telling him he's not stupid... I'm not crying, you're crying!
2. Perfect holiday movie opinions. Far too many people forget Planes, Trains and Automobiles and go straight into Christmas movies. (honorable mention for Christmas: Die Hard, don't @ me. )
3. As I have grown older alongside the GB crew, their adventures in parenting have been so relatable to me. Jeff finishing this episode with 2 sick kids on his lap is incredible. Keep on Dadding! You're killing it.
@barna: Same. I loved Super Double Dragon back in the day and play through it every couple years or so as Jeff did here. Though I'd never seen the extra level at the end from the Japanese version. It's tough to be a stream where they play and discuss two of my favorite SNES games SDD and Contra III: The Alien Wars. My how Konami has fallen.
@cornfed40: Yep. Lost a lot of hours to Return of the King with a buddy of mine. As you say, mindless slaughter that was fun enough back when I had more time than money!
@nickhead: I work at a public library in a fairly rural area. Since I think a lot of our patrons are going to be in the same position you are, I pre-ordered one for our library (along with some cheap alternatives and I'm considering getting one or two more of the prominent Oculus competitors from Sony, HTC, etc.) and we're going to have events for people to come try it out. Talk to your local library, there's a lot of movement in library circles to become technology hubs for exactly this sort of situation (along with 3D printing, making, digital production labs, etc.).
