I do not believe physical media is going to go away for multiple reasons.
1- People enjoy collecting things and shopping for physical stuff in stores, so they would not want to replace that with something intangible.
2- There has been many comparisons to MP3's on iTunes but I think the comparison there is very flawed. In Music, a CD usually has 2 or 3 hits and the rest of the songs are not as good. People would rather buy those 3 songs and pay 3 dollars than buy the whole CD for 10+ dollars. What is it going to be like in games? Give me chapter 3 of this game for 2 dollars, but not chapter 2? Most games are not built like that. Also unless they lower the price of downloadable games much lower than the price of physical media, why should anyone bother?
3- Big corporations: Like Vinny mentioned Gamestop and Best buy, even walmart and Target will not sit there idly losing all that extra cach flow coming in from games.

Oh it still plays beautifully. I replayed the original a couple years back, and I still enjoyed it as the first day I played it. Man those marines are still some of the smartest AI enemies in a game.

Yes you can, when I pre-ordered LittleBigPlanet and Banjo Kazoee Nuts and Bolts, the Gamestop employee told me I can cancel the pre-order before the game ships.

Here is why I hate DRM:
1- First of all, it doesn't work. I have seen many games that had Starforce and Securom cracked and distributed over the internet days after the game was out.
2- It actually makes it more inconvenient for a person who legitimately buys a game. If I buy a game, I don't want to count the number of computers I installed it on. I just want to be able to install it on as many computers as I want to.
3- Selling the game used is very difficult. What if I finish the game, and want to sell it, like a console game. Who would buy it, when it can only run on 2 or 3 computers?
4- With Starforce, the program was messing around with some really low level devices or something on Windows. When XP SP2 came out, all of the Starforce games that I owned legitimately did not run anymore. I had to go online to get a no-dvd patch to be able to play my legitimately bought games. You heard that right, I had to revert to piracy to play games I payed for. How is that good for the end user?

I know in the last Bombcast, there was a lot of talk about Securom and DRM in general, and Jeff was all in favor of it, and very adamant about it.

These are just a few of my reasons why I hate DRM. How about you, what do you think of Securom and other DRM products?

From what I heard (rumor), the first party developers have a mandatory mandate to include trophies in their games coming out later this year, whereas every developer will have to encorporate trophies in their games starting 09.
