I think the reason I've never gotten super far in FF XII is its length and faux-MMO design more than anything else. I've increasingly found that the JRPGs I do attach to are either more mechanically interesting, or better with their "meaningful" content, for as much as I like concepts like the Gambit system.

It does not help that (imo) the overall style and visual design of FF12 is just boring. I've played through the main series games from FF4 to FF13-LR and I can still easily describe the early scenes and storypoints of every single game except FF12 which only brings flasbacks of brown sewers and I cannot remember a damn thing about the story even after reading ZP's blogs about it.

This post just made find a new rabbit-hole to fall into that are Persona cover-songs on Youtube. The ending song was not translated for English release, but even if it is not literal translation, it really made me nostalgic about my own playthrough all those years back:

Her cover of "Heaven" (Nanako dungeon BGM) is also really nice.

I think I'll need to do another playthrough of P4 and P5.... P3 is good but the mood is bit too dark and overbearing for repeated playthroughs.

Game industry just exploints people's passion for games. I'm software dev and love games, but I'd never work for game company. It's ridicilous that vast majority of game devs are doing very similar stuff to what business software devs are doing, minus the wage, benefits, sensible workinghours and job security.

@df said:
- You know all those popular RPG card battle/idol raising mobile game from Japan, aren't those literally "objectification of characters"? Where you literally "collect characters" and they all have "rareness" like loots.

What makes those different to collectible Hockey, Football and Baseball cards, they are literally objectifying real people but no-one seems to have problem with those.

Had same issue on my G500 and bought a cheap mice as a temporary solution. Then opened up the G500, looked up the part number and ordered replacement micro-switches from China. Took couple weeks to arrive, soldered them in and now back to G500. Also, the switches of the exact same model may be overpriced because people keep buying them specifically for fixing Logitech mouses, but they are really nothing special and you may find more durable versions of that specific model (higher estimated cycle/click count before failure) for lower price.

XIII story feels super-tight and easy to follow compared to XIII-2, which in my opinion went too far to the opposite direction after XIII was criticized for it's linearity. Grab your notebook and get ready for some 4-dimensional fetch questing in XIII-2.

@zombiepie Someone on Gamefaqs had posted the lyrics for Crazy Chocobo, I think that's your next duet with @thatpinguino:

Gas ‘em up with the greens and let him go
Stand back, stand clear as he puts on a show
So cute yet fierce, is he from hell?
I cannot tell, yet I don’t even want to know
So you wanna be a trailblazer?
Kickin’ dirt like a hell raiser?
Take the reins, but don’t react slow
It’s time to feel the force of the chocobo

So you think you can ride this chocobo?
Got Chocobucks? You better put them on this chocobo!
Saddle up, if you think you can ride in this rodeo
Are we in hell? I don’t know… to the dirt, let’s roll!
You’re loco if you think you’re gonna hide this chocobo
Everybody’s gonna wanna ride your chocobo
It’s choco-loco style in a choco-rodeo
Gonna ride him straight through hell in this chocobo rodeo!
Yeah, let’s ride!

You’re loco if you think you’re gonna hide this chocobo
Everybody’s gonna wanna ride your chocobo

Vanille's design is Selphie with extra fluff. But I don't really see her clothes as particularly risky or revealing. Her outfit is more tribal/exotic compared to city-dwelling members of main cast, but shares some similarities with Fang, which makes sense. Location of the brand is 100% for fanservice, though.

Cyberpumped!

I like high fantasy as much as everyone else, but I could really do with good RPGs in other settings as well. I think half of the reason I enjoyed past two Deus Ex -games so much was because that kind of setting is not used that often.

Completely pointless, but that doesn't stop the general audience asking about it, which is why it has been one of the talking points in game reviews since the beginning. But when storefront puts it right there as a metric of "value", it sends wrong kind of message and is going to be a concern among indie devs who cannot necessarily afford to pad their games out with filler content.

I can understand that some are looking to get most (quantity) out of their game purchase, but first and foremost should the enjoyment. I don't think anyone would argue that LotR movies would have been twice as good if they were twice as long, probably the opposite. Same goes for many shorter games that are very condensed experiences with finely tuned design, padding them out would not do them any good.

Personally, I just want to play good games, regardless of how long they are and quite often, shorter games are more memorable and unique.
