1. There is no “worst Beach Boys song”. All Beach Boys songs are equally excellent and should be appreciated as such.
2. If there was a “worst Beach Boys song” it would be Little Saint Nick. However, this is a Christmas song and therefor it is beyond judgement.
3. Kokomo is not a worst song or even a bad song. It is an exceptional song (like all Beach Boys songs). It is both a lesson in Caribbean geography, and a sizzling portrayal of daily life in the Caribbean.
4. The Beach Boys song “Wouldn’t It Be Nice” is the antithesis of “Seventeen” by Winger. The first lyrics are literally “Wouldn’t it be nice if we were older, then we wouldn’t have to wait so long”. If we could all be a little bit more like the Beach Boys and a little less like Winger this world would be a much better place.
5. The Beach Boys did not need to know how to surf in order to effectively portray surf culture in the 60s. They’re song writing abilities and imagination surpassed even the real life experience of surfing, thereby making real surf culture unnecessary.
6. Brian Wilson is not just “some weirdo”. He is, in fact, a musical genius and innovator who suffered from mental illness, only to be taken advantage of for decades by a complete fraud named Eugene Landy. This is what lead to his reclusiveness, and only after separating himself from Landy in the 90s could he start receiving real treatment for his illness and start to reclaim his own life.
7. Playing Beach Boys tapes for your kids every time your in the car with them does not cause any lasting damage to those kids. This is both a fact and my opinion.
@curryspiced: What history of disrespect? I've never noticed this in the podcast, is it on video? Did i miss it? Luckily all the work these people do is recorded and archived so I'd love for you to point out some examples that I could take a look at.
As far as I'm concerned this was a one time mistake that made things awkward for exactly 5 seconds. That's it, move on.
It's tough because at its core Ben's joke (which seems to be the topic of this weeks forum) is actually solid. Eg: "Looks like Dedede finally caught up to him" would have been perfect. It's just the content of his joke was pretty graphic, and the timing wasn't right (too soon bud).
But honestly, is everyone on this forum a lifelong John Kirby die hard or what? Seems more like they're using this as an opportunity to vent their pent up anger towards Ben. Which would also be a pretty disrespectful thing to do towards Mr. Kirby.
My understanding is that in the culinary world, that little flappy bit underneath the chicken breast is called a "chicken tender" or a "chicken fillet". So a real chicken tender would be a breaded, and fried one of these.
A chicken strip could just as well be nugget meat shaped into a bar.
It's O for go forward and X for 'back' in Japan, because O (or 'maru') means 'yes' in the language, and X 'batsu' means 'no'. It's related to the meaning of the symbols, not to their order.
But the placement of those two buttons, and certainly the Nintendo buttons, could still be related to the direction that you read in Japan. Starting on the right, and ending on the left.
