Correct me if I'm wrong, as I have never actually played DnD but aren't they streamlining that game? I have listened to the PADnD podcasts and I get the impression that fourth edition is completely stripped down compared to classic DnD, and 5th edition is even more simplified. I don't imagine this is a move to broaden the audience but a move to make the game a more enjoyable experience. I am by no way saying that having intricate systems makes for a bad game, I just don't think that you should disregard simplicity as being a synonym for shallow. Also I realize this is more of a thought exercise as you state you have no intention of actually building this game.
I am looking forward to characters not being empty shells and having actual physicality to them, as to avoid clipping. It really bumbs me out watching characters crossing their arms in games and not having one arm rest on another, but one arm clip through another. Shoulder pads on armor melding through my character's torso. Having armor not actually be physical pieces of material laying on top of my character instead of a different model being projected instead of another. Playing through Skyrim in third person and watching my steel armor twist and turn as my character runs through the world really bumbs me out.
The game is a bumber, ignoring all the things that made the previous games fun (to me at least). I'm glad they changed up the location and era but this game just felt so off to me.
There is a leveling system but you do not gain levels per say. When you fill the progress bar you will gain an ability corresponding to a different style of play represented by a different animal. So there is a perk system similar to something like skyrim. Information can be found here: http://www.gamespot.com/far-cry-3/previews/the-thin-line-between-far-cry-3-and-skyrim-6397971/
Haha, if you think THAT chase is bad, I am very excited to see the reaction for the one later in the game. Perfect example (for me at least) of somewhat enjoying a game and completely turning on it because of a poorly designed level near the end. But yeah, AC3, not a very good game.
EDIT: After watching that mission on youtube it is apparent that during my playthrough the Hickey was not suppose to stand still in the middle of the street after that carriage pulls out 20 seconds into the chase, but boy am I glad he did.
@JasonR86: Yeah, just because it is a video game doesn't make it ok. This is the reason why people who don't play video games believe they are for sexually frustrated teenage boys.
