  • No other game consumed me this year as much and as long as Elden Ring did. 120+ something hours to finish my first run over about a month and a half where my girlfriend learned to hate the game cause of how much time I put into it. Yeah this one was special.

  • I'm normally not a card game person, but Marvel Snap sunk its hooks deep and quick. This one was also addictive like Elden Ring, and I have seen a lot of time slip away into the "oh I can squeeze a match in here" mentality, but it's been a great game that adapts each character's abilities into interesting and cool cards.

  • I wasn't as into Ragnarok as I was with 2018's God of War, but this was still a very good game. More of the combat, and characters I liked. With that said, although the adventure felt fun and well made, I felt like it didn't have quite the same impact of weight to battles and outcomes.

  • This was a nice surprise considering I don't really get too into Pokemon games since the Red and Blue days. The capture mechanic in the open world was a lot of fun and quick to perform. It wasn't the prettiest game on Switch, but it was fun and had a style of its own.

  • I've missed wrestling games since WWE 2K20 was a dismal release a couple years ago. So WWE 2K22 was a welcome sight when it came out this year. There's plenty of rightful criticism for the game; Universe mode crashing, GM mode being very light on options, relatively boring Showcase mode, a Faction mode that was single player only and filled with grinding and loot boxes.

Even with all that, the game looked and played great, there were a lot of wrestlers, even after many of them had been released by the company before the game released, and hey some of them are even back now!

  • I was looking forward to this since it was announced and it didn't disappoint. Great beat em up options, each character felt distinct and tons of personality in the sprite work and throughout.

  • I don't normally like older style adventure games, but after seeing some quick looks of this game and the accessibility features and tip system, I went ahead and gave it a try. Came away from it having a great time with a fun, silly pirate adventure.

  • This was fun and watching the Waypoint and Nextlander folks start this one up was enough to get me to pick it up. I like Until Dawn a lot and this looked like another game on that level. I was not disappointed.

  • Got to this one finally after hearing so much praise for it and the comparisons to Return of the Obra Din. A fun detective story that's pretty breezy to get through. Some of the chapters can seem very overwhelming at first, but all the details are available. There's also a hint system that I used a few times and they are more to guide you in the right direction than spelling out the answers. I also liked the option to have an indicator instead of pixel hunting through the game as the latter would have frustrated me.
