I finished dead space 2 and was really unhappy with the story. I might try dead space 3 but it's not high on my backlog.

Also to put my indifference towards San Andreas into perspective, I finished saints row 2 & 3 before picking San Andreas up. I'm thinking God of War might be another series I don't much care about, but I think I can give it till the end of the first game.

What are some popular games that have passed you by?

I will probably never finish Deus Ex. I've played it, but I just can't get past some of the more archaic design decisions. I've also been spoiled by it's sequel Human Revolution. I really enjoyed Adam Jensen's adventure and I have no real desire to go back to it. I feel the same way about every Grand Theft Auto game from III to San Andreas. I finished IV before I really started trying to play any of the older ones, and they just aren't as fun or engaging as IV. Some other ones I will probably never play or finish are:

  • Bioshock - Really enjoyed Infinite, but I spoiled the story for myself when it came out in 2007 and I listened to the hotspot spoilercast.
  • Diablo II - It's fun, but Diablo III, Torchlight, and Torchlight II do what I want from this game better.
  • Oblivion - I really enjoy playing this one, but I would rather play Fallout or Skyrim.
  • Infinity Engine games (Planescape, Baldur's Gate II, Icewind Dale) - I want to enjoy games like this, but I just can't sink my teeth into the gameplay or the story. There's just a lot in the way for me to push through as compared to something like Dragon Age or The Witcher.

So what about you guys & gals, what popular games are you likely never to finish?

@jiggajoe14: You probably won't regret it. I definitely enjoyed the four hours I spent with that game.

There's a sale going on. Rogue Legacy, System Shock 2, and Guacamelee are on sale for the next 12 hours $2.99, $.99, and $3.74 respectively. Certain Bethesda (Skyrim & more), Bandai Namco (Dark Souls & more), and Paradox Interactive (Crusader Kings & more) games are on sale for the duration of the sale. Are any of you guys looking to pick anything up for cheap?

I really disliked his outspoken politics, and gawker media seems like a more receptive community to "activism" like his. Loved it when he played video games on camera, though.

For those of you whining about Patrick going to Kotaku, just realize that it's a perfect fit for him. Not only is he good at writing interesting features, but he's also politically aligned with a lot of Gawker media group's editors.
