If there's one thing we love here at InternetPopular.com, it's our Xbox Live Arcade games. Since the original Geometry Wars hit the marketplace on the launch of the Xbox 360, we've fallen in love with the pick-up-and-play formula most arcade games have. Great for those days when you don't have much time to play, we've probably spent more time with them than anything retail we've purchased.
Microsoft understands the love most people have for the arcade titles, and it's because of that, that they are going out of their way to bring home some of the best titles out there.
Announced during the Microsoft press conference this afternoon was three games that are sure to become instant Arcade classics. So what were they you ask!? Actually there's a good chance you're not asking that because it states what they are in the title, so yeah...
Geometry Wars 2: It's back, it's bigger, and while we wouldn't bet the only underwear we brought to E3 on it, it's going to be better than ever. Geometry Wars 2 will allow you to team up for some 4-player co-op action and will also include 5 new modes to take your shape killing aggression out on. Looks great, and it would be even better if they made it available for 400 Microsoft points. Geometry Wars 2 hits the marketplace on August 6, 2009.
Galaga Legions: Now this is definitely something. I can't believe Galaga has never been remade but as Microsoft so nicely reminded us, it hasn't. Now for the first time in 20 years, Galaga is getting rebuffed, and the ones doing the buffing are the same people behind the insanely awesome "Pac-Man Championship Edition." Namco Bandai Games has once again hooked us up because "Galaga Legions" looks too good to be true.
Portal: Still Alive: While not a great amount of news has been released about "Portal: Still Alive," it is in fact coming to XBLA sometime this year. We've been told that it will continue the story from the original Portal, include new levels, achievements, and cake. You didn't think we could get through a Portal article without a cake joke did you?
