Games Completed: 2015 Edition

Part 04. You know the rules - still using the "best/worst/comments" format:

List items

  • Best Part: The "Missile Command" boss fight

Worst Part: The plot? The compression in the FMVs

Comments: It's a shame that all these "gimmick shooters" have such generic stories. There are some cool ideas in this game though. Could've used more than 3 powers

  • Best Part: Gaia Breaker. CUT THE MOON IN HALF

Worst Part: All the stuff I missed, lol

Comments: Meruru Plus: Arland is Over. Turns out that I missed heaps of stuff trying to game it the same way you need to in Totori (keeping friendship at 60) and there's even stuff you need to be in NG+ to do! I sense another playthrough sometime in the future.

  • Best Part: Auto-track mini-gun. TWIN LASER

Worst Part: Not having a decent weapon in Part 3 orz

Comments: I used to play the shareware version of this all the time when I was younger, saw the game on sale and had to buy it.

  • Best Part: The Wind Bracelet

Worst Part: Some of the boss fights are BULLSHIT

Comments: Ys games are good games, what can I say. The game does a good job of getting better as you play it (wind bracelet, double jump, etc) and has the Ys staple(?) of having all your inventory slots filled out at endgame, which is always great.

  • Best Part: The new vertical-ity/mobility shit

Worst Part: How slow you walk through the towns

Comments: Great game, but killed my hands for over a week after 120 hours (thanks 3DS XL for being the least ergonomic device I've ever had to use in my entire life)

  • Best Part:

    Worst Part:

Comments: was the story to this just Ed Boon's submission to fanfiction.net

  • Best Part: Ablution + Unified Destroyer

Worst Part: Solo missions. F* that BS

Comments: Toukiden's pretty fun. Story gets hella anime near the end which I can appreciate

  • Hexcells is cool

  • Plus is less cool

  • Infinite is more cool than Plus, fixes some of the issues I had

Grinded the 60 puzzle achievement in one sitting, now everything is hexagons

  • Best Part: Minakata (1st battle theme), Kanon

Worst Part: Those fucking car enemies goddamn

Comments: Pretty good game. Has a pretty weak start though, I couldn't help but compare it to Qoga (as in, Qoga was better) for a good long while, but it really picks up around the beginning of Phase 2 and sorta becomes a Star Ocean replacement during Phase 3. Oh, and don't talk to me about how long the final bosses take on Veteran - just don't.

    Easy to Platinum, too. Surprising.

  • Best Part: Zhang Jiao saving the day

    Worst Part: Ambition Mode

Comments: Like 7, but with more stuff. Ambition Mode sucks ass though compared to the thing they had in 7, I give it a 2/10.

  • Best Part: The "final interlude"

    Worst Part: Hanafuda

Comments: Still can't decide whether I liked this more than Kagetsu Tohya or not. Also, FUCK HANAFUDA

  • Best Part: The rescue box in co-op

Worst Part: QTEs during cutscenes?? In a Metal Gear game???

Comments: A cool game that grew on me. Definitely a PSP game though (I played HD Edition), pretty much every design issue I had was explained by that.

  • Best Part: ZOMBIE LASAH

    Worst Part: The aztec boss

Comments: This is the Metal Slug game I remember. I suck at it though; it took 39 continues for me to beat the game lmao

  • Best Part: Only needing half the continues than I did in 3

Worst Part: Those little UFO dudes

Comments: Really shoulda played this <remake of 2> before 3, huh

  • Best Part: Multi Rounds, Bosses

Worst Part: Speed Rounds, later Light Sword / Nunchaku Rounds

Comments: Pretty cool gimmick, but level mode drags on for wayyy too long (even just doing the minimum amount of levels needed to beat the mode). Also, fuck the last Light Sword round; that shit almost requires inhuman reflexes.

  • Best Part: Finally platinuming the game

Worst Part: NG+ Four Kings, fuck those guys

Comments: I've technically beaten this game before, but that was a hotseat couch co-op playthrough and not on my account. Shoutouts to shields

  • Best Part: Playing co-op

    Worst Part: Endgame races

    Comments: ???

That obstacle course during the last boss level was stupid. Falling off a building because of RNG physics during the last race was stupid. Everything in this game is kinda stupid, which is fine because it's Twisted Metal

  • Best Part: Chinese Stealth Armor

    Worst Part: Chinese Stealth Armor

Comments: Chinese Stealth Armor is broken as shit. Had to stop playing a bit after beating the regular story because I was playing the PS3 version and like all Bethesda games, once you reach a save file amount of ?.??MB the game runs like molasses on fire and crashes more often than a character with a melee weapon in Twisted Metal

  • Best Part: Record Synergy (for characters you have/like)

Worst Part: Record Synergy (for ones you don't), ATB

Comments: I'm counting this (neverending mobage vortex) as beaten since I've reached the point where I've made enough classic dungeon progress that I have to wait for more to be released every 2 weeks + new events every week or so.

  • Best Part: The smaller missions (without tanks)

Worst Part: Non-camp infinite random enemy respawns, the Shamrock

Comments: This game's alright. I had a lot of complaints about certain mechanics, and the story got a bit too anime at points, but nothing was horrible enough to make me quit the game (except for the multiple times where I stopped playing the game for no real reason)
