I'd like to add a third option to Jeff's poll for people that really hate Kingdom Hearts and feel the need to let everyone know at all times how bad they think Kingdom Hearts is.
@chen_96: I can't wait for Jeff and Dan to recieve 1000 suggestions for anime they obviously wouldn't have any interest in watching. Jeff has voiced an appreciation for 80's era anime aesthetics so he'd probably be down with any of the trashy, action-orientated OVA from that time like M.D. Geist or Cyber City Oedo 808, but you can forget about anything released in the past decade.
@fawkes: I'm starting to come around on the more realistic take as it sinks in, RE7 was clearly a new era for the series so I can understand not wanting to go back to the 'cartoonier' portrayals that defined the series up until RE6 or so, Capcom seems to want to wash their hands of that and I don't really blame them since it got a bit shit after a while. I will miss the quirky RE of old, although I wasn't on board with RE7, stepping back into Raccoon City is too good to resist.
Another note, watching Leon creeping down those dark hallways with a torch in hand reminds me so much of the old Hook Man demo. There's also an Elza Walker skin for Claire, and this seemingly darker take on the police station brings RE 1.5 to mind. As one of the many fans who longed for those early builds, it feels like we're finally getting a small piece of that which is exciting.
Man... so many mixed feelings right now, I don't know what to make of this. I think the main thing that's bothering me is how off the characters look, I get that they're going for a more realistic, RE7-like approach but it's kind of a bummer since Darkside Chronicles already remade them perfectly.
Upsetting that a rail shooter is more accurate to the game I love than the fully fledged remake, but Capcom sure loves giving their characters weird makeovers.
@jeremym: I approve of their decision to stay current with this stuff because there's no part of me that wants to explore Agrabah for the 3rd time over, but that's also due to some resentment on my part that Halloween Town isn't returning. "If I'm not getting what I want, no one is!"
Looks super cool from a gameplay perspective, but man... the art direction really isn't of the quality I'd expect from a FromSoftware title. Sorry to say, but those enemies really do look like they were ripped out of Nioh, I expected From's take on Eastern fantasy to be a little more original than this.
This image I found on Google is more or less the kind of aesthetic I was expecting:
