yep, last bullet point is the key one here. If they can't prove their code exists in either anything Oculus has developed internally or made available to the public (the sdk) then... well Zenimax doesn't have much of a case do they?
I don't think they have a case. They would have to prove specifically what Carmack "stole" from Zenimax that is now implemented in the Oculus Rift. Good luck with that.
if someone's personality starts to become grating to you not sure there's much that can be done about that. In terms of content on the site, I think it's still great for the most part. I mostly watch quick looks and unprofessional Fridays and of course listen to the podcast every week. I can pass on some of the other stuff but I catch a few things now and then depending on game is being covered.
Mikami, Inafune, and now Igarashi. Seems like this is the story now days- prominent Japanese developers leaving their employee of many years to either join another company or start their own thing. I wonder what that means for the state of the industry in Japan- is it a sign that things aren't so hot or is it a sign of health? I'm think indie development is a good thing and great games continue to come from that part of the business. I think people also just get tired of making what their company wants to make and not give them to freedom to make what they want.
I felt the game reached a peak difficulty wise with the Ornstein and Smough battle. After that the game opens up and you have some choices as to how you want to attack the rest of the game. That choice eased the difficulty for me because then I didn't feel trapped working on the same thing over and over until I got past it by sheer will alone. If I didn't like an area and wanted to tackle it later.. I could. Made all the difference.
Silicon Knight's argument is lunacy. "Using license fees from Too Human to fund Gears of War". Are you insane?" (Dyack?) It's like someone doesn't have a clue how this business works. EPIC licenses their game engine. To many developers besides Silicon Knights. That's part of their revenue stream. They also develop and publish video games. No wonder SK went down in flames.
