Still shocked Final Fantasy 7 Remake didn't make into the top 10. I was sure that was going to be in there and had Jeff or Vinny loved it over the break, it would probably have been in the top 5.
Alas, good top 10 otherwise. What a wonderful Game of the Year and a fitting farewell to @benpack. Good Luck, I'll miss you lots. <3
I may write up a blog explaining my love for these games (maybe after I've had a chance to finish more of them) but here's the list as it stands:
Kingdom Hearts 3: ReMind DLC
Final Fantasy VII Remake
Persona 5 Royal
Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition
Hades
Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Kingdom Hearts Melody of Memory
Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore
Monster Train
The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope
My list is unlikely to change before the deadline however there are many games that I only got in December and haven't played much, if any, yet. These include:
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity
Ghost of Tsushima
Umurangi Generation
Noita
Signs of the Sojourner
Similarly, there are many titles that I'm waiting to release on another platform (or waiting to get a next generation console) before I play.
Fun fact: this game was announced before Far Cry 3 came out... imagine all the open world games since then and yet they still released it in this state?!
This is certainly very impressive but I can't help but feel disappointed that all this work went into returning to my least favourite modern From Software game. My grieveances with it are all mechanical and structural too, so while they've changed aesthetics (something I never had a problem with), they've kept everything I hated about it. I hope people who get this because it's one of the few notable PS5 games don't get turned off From Software's other games because of its idiosyncrasies.
Finally a combat system that appeals to me. Sad to hear so many core fans are disappointed but this might finally be the Yakuza game that actually brings me in. I'll probably wait until the PS5 version next year (and see if my interest is still there) but definitely a huge plus for me that they got rid of their beat-em-up combat.
I want to see their version of London but I don't know if I can handle an even more distopian version of my city right now.
Also, is it just me or do the voices rarely match the characters at all? It's as if they slap their London voices on any character regardless of race (only taking into account gender and age).
