Dragon Age II - I played it a bit

edit: Wait, what button did I just press? Did I just posted this as a topic? I wanted this to be a random blog post. To see how it copies over from Wordpress.
Hm, well...uhm... Hello there!

Right. Dragon Age II. I've played it a bit, as you might have read. Well... Actually, as with most games in this genre I mostly stared at the character customization screen.

My VERY basic first 'impressions' are...:

1.

I booted the game on my new and shiny Slim.

2.

Although I didn't make any pictures of that part, I liked the introductory scene.

'No, that's not how it went' was a nice touch.

What I didn't like about that part was that you get to play with the standard Hawke model, but as soon as the next scene starts you get to customize him. Seems weird. Now the opening scene seems disconnected to the rest.

Ah well, it was a short scene, so who cares.

The combat felt very snappy. Very different from Origins wich had a very deliberate feel to it. I don't necessarily mean it as a bad thing. Just something I noticed.
Also a lot more visceral than DA: Origins.

The Customization was, as I expected pretty basic. Seemed like they copy/pasted the Origins stuff right in here without any effort.
But still... enough options for me to panic at the sight of it! :P

If you look a few inches up you can see what I went with. Pretty basic, but at least not as fugly as my first few tries.

Tylar...From the Godslayer Chronicles. Yeah... I suck at making up names.

Oh, he is a Warrior. I like magic and stuff, but I just want to be at the frontlines chopping up darkspawn.

Wow, I can import my Dragon Age: Origins saves? And it actually works? Nice!

Thank god I didn't delete the saves. Or even worse... overwrite them. I tend to make mistakes like that.

For those interested, these were the choices I made:

5.

The game starts. With the new and customized Hawke. He looks weird... Maybe I should have made him different. That goatee looked pretty spiffy too.

Hey, isn't that the Mass Effect wheel thingy during conversations? I wonder if I will be able to punch people in the face.

6.

Let's check out the menu.

I thought they were supposed to have streamlined this game? I'm more confuddled by this monstrosity then I ever was in Origins.

I'll get used to it though.

The first fight. Oh god, I leveled up... Already? Don't make me stare at another screen for an hour. Damnit, here it goes...

Maybe it's me, but again it looks more confusing than the Origins level up thing. But at least it looks more familiar than the talent tree.

I save some people. And we immediately are BFF's!
Well, maybe not. Let's just hope that guy on the left won't kill my lovely sister. That wouldn't be very nice.

And so another adventure begins...

Just don't touch my sister. You can have my brother. He seems like an ass.
