Hey guys,

I'm looking for a game which title I can't remember. It is a PC game made in the early 90s (I suppose). The game featured two distinct game-play systems: A square based, tactical "world map", on which your units where placed and a 2D top-down real time view, where you played out encounters. You had a certain amount of points to buy units from (Demons, Assassins, Spell Casters) as well as items to strengthen them. The goal was to find the enemy "ring bearer" (if I remember correctly - anyway you needed to find a key piece). You moved your units in the "world map" view and used abilities as well, if you attacked an enemy piece you fought it out in real time. If anyone does know what this game was called, I'd appreciate it.

best,

The PC port got a lot of flak because it was barely working. I bought the complete packet of L.A. Noire in some steam sale a few months back and got finally around to try it. I have a modest machine and the FPS are decent on 1920x1200 medium settings, setting up the social club account was quick and without having to leave the game, as well as I encountered no bugs in the first couple hours besides some texture popping. So if you skipped this game because you're a PC gamer, it's definitely worth picking up once it goes on sale again because the game is really a lot of fun.

Bayonetta was my game of the year back then (2010? don't remember). I loved the story as well. I think it's really multi-layered and full of cross cultural reference work.

So, will this game work well on regular PCs or is geared to play on a mobile device? I recently bought Super Hexagon because of its repeated mention on game of the year lists. I can't really get anything out of that game, neither the keyboard nor the gamepad controlls feel good to me and I feel this should really be played on a touchscreen (Or however you play it on the iphone ;). What you guys think?

I know it myself. Imho (at least in my case) it means you currently invest too much emotional energy / interest in your competitive online game of choice. I'd say get some more variety in the things you're currently trying to achieve.

@RenegadeDoppelganger: That's also quite true, the thing about the straight man. You know in the beginning of the site Ryan usually took a type of 'daddy' role, who keeps things in check.

@OtakuGamer: You know, I'm pretty happy with the replies I got so far, you just gotta gloss over like half of them :D. I really was mainly interested in hearing if other people are also bored by Patrick in QL, seems it's not really the case. I'm still suprised by the quality of the reading comprehension skills some people are showing ;).

@Tesla: I have to say I like your last point. Would make sense since he's a bit younger and the newest member of giantbomb.
