An enormous amount of racing illiteracy that has lead to some of the confusion and exasperated comments by the team here (you can totally be in front of another car, get bumped, and be in the wrong, in the right circumstances). And I don't blame them, for all the tutorialising and talking about the 'sport' moniker and FIA credentials, GT:S has done a pretty awful job of actually explaining to non-race fans what it means to race fair. I guess in the end, this game is for a very specific section of the racing market.
Beyond that, it probably also does an inequitable job of enforcing those same rules, further exacerbating the troubles they speak of.
This is so close to what I want from a racing game: remove the pokemon and gated progression nonsense aspects and just give me racing. But I need more tracks and more roads cars to get right in. Somewhere between this and GT4/Forza 3 is probably what I'm after. Maybe I should dig into some PC racers...
/edit: rewatching the online race. The ghosting in that is awful. I'm certain that will be changed down the line.
I realise the video will get all the attention, but I really wanted to give a shout to the screenshots and their terrific captions, which is probably the only thing I sorely miss from the heyday of magazines.
Great review, though. And funnily enough, I said 90% of the same things about Skyrim and Oblivion too, at their respective time of release, and would attribute the same score to those games. Strokes and folks, truly.
@wcarle: yeah from the lack of reports on forums and here I figured something goofy was happening at my end. In any event, the error is still popping up.
I'll dig in properly tonight, reinstall the apps and try your suggestion, see what happens. Thanks!
Nice, thanks. Is this likely to have had anything to do with the premium podcasts recently not working? I download them via Podcast Addict on Android, and after just a few minutes of playing the app would say that the format cannot be played, try another app. But no other app would play them either, like I was getting a corrupted file or something.
So I've resorted to just streaming directly from the website, via Chrome on my phone to get around this.
This podcast is consistent fucked on my android, at around the 20m mark, right around the end of the discussion of monster Hunter. Podcast addict breaks at that point, beyond pod and the in built music player.
