Besides being a gamer I am also a big fan of anime! For starters my top 10 lists will not be categorized by genre (theme of the anime) but rather as a whole from storyline, artwork, uniqueness, and etc. I especially like those anime series that has no filler episodes and are completed. Another major thing for me in choosing what anime to watch is the progress of the plot in every episode. The feeling when you are so hooked up to the story that you just can’t stop clicking that remote to watch the next episode. Also the anime that I listed are completed series unlike Naruto, One Piece, and Bleach that are still on-going and we still don’t know when it will be finished and all have a conclusion. The Anime are not listed as 1st, 2nd , 3rd , etc. That is because they are all good.
First of is Gungrave, a story of friendship, love, and betrayal. You will be set off deep into the mafia organization known as Millennion where they control everything even the Necromancer Technology. Brandon Heat (Protagonist) is resurrected from the dead via Necromancer Technology to stop the Millenion Organization and how it came to be. The story starts from the future then returns to the past until it reaches their current time line.
The most adorable, teary, dramatic of all the anime that I have watched that are related to its genre. For being a guy…I got mixed emotion watching this one. Anyway, the series will show you the life of Tomoyo Okazaki (A high school delinquent) and the strange girl he met that changed his whole life.
Next is the ever popular Death Note, an anime series full of mystery and suspense. Yagami Light encounters a small note book (Death Note) which he later used to change the world to this idea. A well made intelligent anime that is a must see.
Basilisk a ninja themed anime, were two clans are given an order to kill each other to see who will serve their new emperor. Unlike Naruto, you will see a deeper and darker world of the Ninjas as two young couple struggles to survive their clans’ war.
Legendary heroes of the past are called upon to the modern world to participate in the Holy Grail war to fulfill one’s wish. One lad by the name of Shirou Emiya was drawn to the Holy Grail war and has summoned the most fearsome female servant known as Saber.
Japan was under the power of Brittania Empire. Lelouch a high school student suddenly gained a power to hypnotize people but only once. With his intellect and new power, he now aims to take over the world and defeat the great empire of Brittania. An awesome Mech themed anime set not far into the future.
Humanity defends themselves against the holy and monstrous powers of the Angels. EVAs’ are humanoid robots that are built to battle this merciless Angels and to prevent the 3rd Impact (End of the World). Three young pilots named Shinji Ikari, Asuka Langley, and Rei Ayanami confronts this enemies.
Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood, is a story of two brothers at a young age are well versed in the world of alchemy. During their journeys they have encountered many conspiracies and a secret society that are controlling everything behind the scenes. Each and every episode you watch will suck you in their story and will love every moment of it.
Blood and gore fest anime that sets you off to the story of Clare, a half human and half monster are trained to kill creatures called Youma. These warriors are referred to as Silver Eyed Witches and are also named as Claymores.
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann is another robot themed anime that is full of actions. Humans are living underground afraid to go up into the surface or they will face the power of the beastman and their mechs. Simon and Kamina started their journey as they have discovered a huge face buried in the earth and aims to explore the surface.

Greeting the video game website users as "Anime Maniacs" makes me laugh. Hope you posted this on Anime Vice with a "Hello, Fellow Gamers!" or something. I've seen 3/10 animes on this list. Pretty decent selection, I'd say.
Clannad.... /melts The most beautiful, emotion inducing show I have ever seen. Clearly just a slice of life/romance/comedy anime with a certain charm that will hold onto you till the very end. IT is my favorite anime.
Code Geass was also excellent. GitS is also a very entertaining anime. Just like Bebop, its fun to watch, but had no where near the effect Clannad and Geass had on me.

I don't know why, but I found this statement fucking hilarious.
As for the anime, I have never watched any of them before... and have no intention of doing so. Anime is my guilty pleasure, I watch Bleach and Naruto: Shippuden on occasion. That's about as far down the rabbit hole as I am willing to go.
One Piece is, in my opinion, not rubbish. I think it's very good, actually. Death Note too is good, shame they almost ruin it though by ending the best thing about it.
This is off topic, Off topic on Animevice has video game threads. Nothing wrong with that. I've seen 5/10 of your list. Death Note & Code Geass are my favorites there
I watched the first season on Clannad but didn't find it as sad as Angel Beats for some reason. Maybe After Story is more depressing, but Angel Beats was very emotionally damaging.
No, what he said was true, One Piece is amazing when compared with Naruto or Bleach. Once you take into account everything else it barely belongs in the top 100.
