What's your criteria for an RPG for non-RPG players? Thing I want to see most is an expansion of what your angle is, even it's just "I usually hate RPGs but these work for me for some reason." Might be easier to suggest titles, then.

I've heard Vagrant Story is good, but haven't played it. I was a Phantasy Star Online fan, and I've spent a ton of time on Diablo, as others have spent theirs on Torchlight. League of Legends, too, has a lot of RPG feel to its RTS roots. Dawn of War II has unit upgrades that feel really small scale and tactical, but maybe that's going too far away from clear character differences.
