I voted lib dem, not because I want them to win so much as I don't want UKIP or any of the other racists that were present on my ballot paper to. My region historically votes conservative with a wide margin. Not to give away too much but Hammond is our MP so its pretty much a rock solid seat. So voting Lib Dem for me is more of a protest in vote, I guess I lean left generally. I don't want us out of Europe because you know, I like the economy to do well, and immigration is something we need to plug the holes in our ageing population. I just get annoyed when people claim we are a minority, because the last census showed White Britain as representing some where in the region of 80% of the populace, if that's a minority to people then fuck me maths education has fallen apart.

I don't know whether its just because it suits my interests perfectly or quite what but the addition of the Alt-F1 podcast with its amazing intro music, the Box office Bomb and the Powerbombcast as well as escaping ads (except for the small businessman, I don't want to miss the small businessman.) more than justifies the $50 price tag for a year. Then again I subscribed to the WWE network so my moneytary judgements might not be completely sound.

If however you feel like you are not getting your moneys worth, just cancel your subscription. That will send a clear message to Jeff, but more importantly to CBSi. Where as sitting on the forums and complaining whilst still providing the money won't. Running a business is a time consuming job, especially when you are business within a business and you only have two department heads and a website to run. To @unilad's point most of the work Alex and Patrick produce is either opinion based, interview based or news, this tends to require a lot less production time than the work the SF office does. Whilst they do bombing in the AM twice a week other than that their time is mostly their own meaning they can stagger their work in a way that makes them seem more productive by maintain a content level on the site.

I'm slightly confused as to why EB took so long to close the stores it had near GAME stores after the merger. Seems like a huge cash hole to me. I'm also slightly confused at what point and why EB separated from its international operations, to form Game Group. I would have thought an international game sales conglomerate would have been a good idea, rather than spinning off into individual companies.

They wouldn't have to announce it. Just announce they are actually still trying to make it.

AV's problem is that it gives someone another vote, thus possibly prioritising their vote over the first choice votes of the leading candidate. It may lead to a person getting more first and second preference's (where 1&2 are v. close after 'round 1'), but still loosing since the only second and third (etc) preferences initially counted are those of voters who voted for someone who got 100 'round 1' votes. At no stage are the leading two candidates' voters second preferences used--and that is inherently wrong in my opinion.
"
Wouldn't that work against those initial voters though? If 100 people put x as their first vote, 80 people put y and only 60 put z, then z should get eliminated, and the second preference of those votes should be assessed in order to create a majority for one or other of the candidates. However if you were to also count the second preference votes of the people who voted X and Y as well you may find that they all collectively voted z instead of x or y which would see Z win. Which would be stupid.

Whilst I agree that the idea of having the BNP getting parliament seats isn't attractive, I would like to hope that enough people would vote green or another alternative party before them. Fortunately there are a lot of parties and independents within the UK at the moment following the expenses scandal, and the change to an AV system should sustain this. The problem arises when you have to form multi party coalitions in order to form a government. You could almost do with a relaxation of party mandates and the construction of personal mandates under a party umbrella similar to the American system, whilst it might create slightly more "pork" you would likely see better coalitions because of it.

I still don't know if I want AV as a voting system, however if the no vote passes, which it probably will, it will likely kill the chance of political reform until another hung parliament arises. Realistically before we touch the voting system, we need to address the House of Lords which is just archaic.

" This system is idiotic, a 6th preference has the same weight as a first should it be taken that far? utter lunacy.  "
Yes. If you believe everyone that has a right to vote should have their votes count. If the person that votes decides they only want to vote for one person that option is also available to them. You can look at first past the post in my constituency and say a vote that isn't for the Conservatives isn't really a vote. That in my opinion is pretty fucked.

I joined, although I expect to fail. I'll make a random push at some point throughout the year but forget about it for the rest
