Game of the Year 2010

My list of favorite games from 2010. Only by release year even though there are games that came out in 2009 that I started playing in 2010. I did not completely finish all of these games. I am still working on some of them.

List items

  • This is one game that I continue to come back to even with the other great games that came out over the year. I consider Continuum Shift, my Game of the Year for 2010. With compelling gameplay and an amazing story, beautiful artwork, and the uniqueness of each separate character, this game never ceases to amaze me.

  • Thoroughly addicting gameplay and if you like the Parasite Eve series, I would say don't judge a game by the platform that it's on nor the gameplay videos. I was pretty amazed at the amount of detail and content that this game has to offer. Plus, Aya is awesome.

  • I don't care what anyone says. Through the countless numbers of disappointed people, I really enjoyed XIII's story through all the complaints about the linearity and cheesy moments. I found the gameplay engaging and the need for continuously queuing commands keeping a person focused and concentrated to be a plus.

  • Story mode has amazing amounts of content and with the added multiplayer component, the game has become even better with the simplicity of the controls and fast paced matches.

  • One of my most anticipated games of the year, although sadly doesn't leave the biggest impression to be in a higher position. Although I really liked the story and gameplay, I found myself thinking about Star Ocean: Till the End of Time more. A great game nonetheless.

  • One of the best multiplayer fighting/action games. With anime like fight sequences, matches are simply eye catching and fun. A huge improvement over the first with a few minor setbacks. The story follows the same storyline as the anime itself so there is none of that side story nonsense. Best Naruto game series.

  • Compelling gameplay and somewhat confusing and random storyline make this a great role-playing game. Sure the gameplay may get old since nothing changes that much, but the visuals and style of the game makes me come back for more.

  • Great story, improved customization, multiplayer. My favorite game in the Kingdom Hearts series.

  • Another great fighting game but my style of fighting game is more along the lines of Blazblue/Guilty Gear, Marvel vs. Capcom, Tatsunoko vs. Capcom. More combo oriented games to put things bluntly. Just my own preference.

  • Customization was great and the gameplay is really appealing although repetitive at times. Enjoyed the story although I look forward for God Eater Burst for any improvements in any aspects of the game.
