Leave it to Nissan to take "if you got it, flaunt it" to new extremes.

My guilty pleasure...

Am I the only person on Giant Bomb who love Golden Tee Golf? It gets no respect in the major gaming sites, yet it's hugely successful. I know, there's like at least 30 bars in my area that has a Golden Tee machine. Using that trackball to swing that golf club is totally awesome, especially with a few beers in your system.

You'll be the death of me...
You'll be the death of me...
Maybe it's just me, but I love this game. I really do. Yes, I suck at the game, but that hasn't stopped me from getting one of those Golden Tee cards to track my progress. Love it, love it. It has to be the course designs, tbh. Or the intense strategy. Or just the friendship with the other bargoers going at it like they're (probably!) drunk. It's social fun, more social than yelling racial epithets over Xbox Live. The next time you see a Golden Tee machine, go try a few holes. You may be getting a Golden Tee card before you know it.

Top Ten Games I'd Like To See In A Namco Museum Game

Hello Bombers, what's up? I've decided to take out this post to list ten games that Namco should put in a future Museum compilation. The latest one, Virtual Arcade for the Xbox 360, is pretty good, but isn't everyone getting tired of seeing the same stuff on there? It's taken a while, but I identified ten games that should be in a future Museum title. Unless identified otherwise, all pictures are sourced from system16.com.

#10 Arrangements.
No, I'm not talking about the arrangements that are present in Virtual Arcade, but instead the ones from the Namco Classics Collection series. Namco Classics Collection is a pair of arcade games released in the mid-'90s that included "arrangements" of Xevious, Galaga, Mappy, Pac-Man, Dig Dug and Rally X. These arrangements added unique gameplay quirks, updated sprite-based graphics, and in some cases, simultaneous multiplayer. The original, non-50th Anniversary Museum release for the Gamecube, Xbox and PS2 has the arrangements of Galaga, Pac-Man and Dig Dug, if you want to try them out.

#9 Cyber Sled
You control this huge tank and you have to defeat this other tank, like Battlezone. The graphics are flat-shaded, like Virtua Racing, and the tanks are controlled with dual-analog joysticks for precision moving and shooting. Multiplayer makes the whole thing worthwhile. I think this game was a PSOne launch title back in 1995, with textures on the graphics.

#8 Ace Driver Victory Lap
Best described as a 3D Pole Position without the asploding cars, this one is an update to Ace Driver, a 1995 racing game. The update adds several tracks and upgrades the graphics somewhat. I remember playing this, it's quite fun.

#7 StarBlade
Some of you might recgonize this one as the game that boots up while your PS2 was loading your Tekken 5 disc. This game used the same hardware as Cyber Sled, and is a rail shooter where you have to shoot down spaceships and other assorted debris to destroy this "Red Eye" thing. Sounds like a certain famous movie, eh? The original arcade version had some surround sound action going on that made it memorable. That could be easily replicated with a 5.1 surround sound system, I think. I also remember this one being a PSOne launch title, and like the PSOne version of Cyber Sled, the PSOne version of StarBlade also had textures to the graphics.

#6 Dragon Saber
It's like Dragon Spirit, that high-fantasy themed Xevious from previous Museum titles, but with two-player simultaneous multiplayer. 'Nuff said.
It was included in the Japan-only Namco Museum Encore disc for the PSOne, if you want to check it out.

#5 Tokyo Wars
Like Cyber Sled, this is a game where you control a tank and shoot at other tanks. And like Cyber Sled, the multiplayer makes this game. Everyone who played this game has fond memories of it. The subwoofer under the seat may have something to do with it.

#4 Gaplus
Kinda like Galaga, but the ship now has 8-way movement, instead of just moving left and right. And it gets real hard, real quick. This one is on the Museum Vol. 2 PSOne disc, if you want to hunt it down and try for yourself.

#3 Legend of Valkyrie
This one is an action-adventure game, where you play the titular character or her lizard buddy, and go on an adventure to rescue something from the baddies. It's pretty cool, actually, and it plays like Zelda-lite. If you can find the Museum Vol. 5 PSOne disc, it's on there.

#2 Ordyne
This Gradius clone has this whimsical setting and is pretty fun to look at and play, especially with a buddy. I remember playing this with my sister and blowing through it in a weekend. Good times. This one can be found on the Museum Vol. 4 PSOne disc, and I think there's a PC Engine port that's available on the Virtual Console, too.

#1 Rave Racer
You know, with all of the Pac-Man games in the Museum Series, perhaps Namco should put in a game or two from another famous series. Like Ridge Racer, for example. This 1995 game is the pinnacle of Ridge Racer arcade games, and is fun to look at, fun to play, and is just about perfect.

And that's all I got, I know there's more that could make the list easily, but these are the ones I want to see. Have at it in the comments.

My first blogpost...

Since I promised my first REAL blogpost soon, I came up with two ideas. I can't decide between the two, though, so let me throw them out here and see which one is better-received.

Option 1- A Brief History Of The Cruis'n Series.

To me, the Cruis'n series is like a Michael Bay film- critics hate 'em, yet Joe Gamer loves 'em. Here, I run down the history of the series (of course), and throw in an overview of the Fast and the Furious arcade games from Raw Thrills, since they come from many of the same developers behind the Cruis'n series.

Option 2- Top Ten Games I'd Like To See In A Future Namco Museum Title.

Discounting the usual suspects, these are the games Namco should put in a future arcade compilation. And yes, I'll be going into the 1990's with this list.

So, which one do you like? Talk amongst yourselves.

Introducing the newest bomber...

Hi, all. I figured that I should post something here.

My name is Alex, and I'm new here. I used to have a blog on 1up, but since James Mielke is the definition of a premadonna who thinks the whole fucking world revolves around him, I decided to pack up and move here.

Anyways, I love video games, of course. My personal all-time favorite game is Daytona USA 2. As the username suggests, I love racing games. Sega ones, in particular, but any game from any genre from Sega, Namco, Midway, Turn 10, Bizarre Creations, Valve, id, Rockstar and Raw Thrills as well. I admit to being a Raw Thrills fanboy, if only because seeing them be successful in the arcade sector makes me feel good about the state of the gaming industry. And their games are fun, too. Yes, even Target: Terror, that's a great guilty pleasure. In the arcades, the Wii version is crap.

And obviously, as the username suggests, I love cars, too. Fast ones. Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Bugattis, Chevys, Mopars, Z cars, Mustangs... if it's fast, I'm all over it like the loud pedal.

I'll start posting new stuff on Monday. See you all then!
