I think it might have also been a way to force players to complete the mission that the gun is tied to, as well. Namely to perhaps make the gun less useful, and easier to part with to complete the quest. But, I mean that's just a guess on my part.

I feel what you're saying, though. I don't know, I think when it comes to games like these that are structured around alot of choices being made, ie: give X to a character, or choose to send X to this character, or choose to kill this or that character...I've found that I always end up getting an unwanted result at some point, no matter what.

That, and I'm getting the feeling that all the characters that are AI's, like the cab company ones, are all just dicks.

Been playing on a PS4 Pro, and been lucky for the most part. It's crashed on me a few times, and it took some work to adjust the HDR settings on it to be somewhere that looks good.

The worse I've seen is how some stuff takes some time to load in, really. My brother's been playing on a base (launch, no less) PS4, and hasn't had much trouble either. Though, he's still in the Prologue...so he hasn't sunk a ton of time into it either. I'm about 40 hours deep into mine, though.

There's an interesting aspect with this game that I can only compare to Assassins Creed games, where at some point the visual glitching that the game is going for can sometimes blur the line between the game spazzing out or it just seeming to do so as a stylistic thing. So, sometimes I can't be 100% sure if I'm seeing something like tearing or if it's V having an attack from his biochip, etc. I remember playing some AC games where similar stuff could happen, and it was all framing with the Animus related stuff.

I'm looking forward to playing the PS5 version, though. I mean, just to see how the game will look and play with more horsepower behind it. And I mean the next gen, version. Not the PS4 backwards compatible on PS5 version.

I'll be curious to see how things go with the next gen PS5/Xbox Series X version.

This release was on a much larger scale, comparatively. But I very much remember hitting that point where games were simultaneously released on PS3/PS4 and 360/XB1...and the last gen version was straight up unplayable. I can't remember, for the life of me, if that stuff was mitigated by owning both versions with one purchase, ie: buying the last gen version and therefore owning the PS3 and PS4 version.

Yeah, that mission was pretty cool. It's been so long since I played Portal, so I didn't realize it was referencing that.

There's gotta be an entire segment of players now who didn't get the reference either, I'm sure.

The issue of companies bending to China is much larger than CDPR. Has been for a while, and it will continue to be a problem for a long time. Massive, far reaching corporations like Disney have gone out of their way to entirely alter entire scripts for that reason.

I don't think it's a problem that will be solved just because of how much money would have to be left on the table. And every company is trying to make as much money as they can, after all.

I think the problem that is abundantly clear, but not enough people ever want to talk about is that there's more often than not a zero sum view on pretty much everything in society these days, and so whenever people find themselves in a position that they love the work of someone they seemingly dislike or despise, it ends up looking like something out of a science fiction story (I think the first Mass Effect had a side mission on the citadel like this) where a machine runs into a decision that so contradictory to it's programming and it just explodes because it can't square away these two things that so contradictory to eachother.

I don't mean to compare people in this difficult situation with liking something and hating the creator as robots, so I hope nobody takes it that way. I just think humans are so complex that we can square away two things that would otherwise make a robot explode from the sheer thought of it.

I think with every case, it depends on the fan really. How important is the property or character to you? How bad and egregious is the artists views? I don't think there's any easy answers. I know people who still watch reruns of the Cosby show, and plenty of people still listen Michael Jackson's music, or R Kelly's as well. I think the idea of ethical consumption always comes from a good and honest place, but it's such a difficult thing to uphold whenever you realize how tied financially most of this stuff is to the specific artist. I've seen plenty of people try and somehow make it seem like there's a possibility that JK Rowling could somehow not see a single cent from this game. But, that just seems absurd to me. I think if you love the character and that universe, there's no shame in buying the things and still consuming it. Especially considering how rich she already is, for what that's worth.

This shit's been happening forever, I'm certain. And the more connected people are to these artists, with even more ways to peer into the hearts and minds of said artists...people are going to find more and more things they don't like about them. And it's even harder when you consider how important Harry Potter has been to people since they were kids, growing up into full adults....and then this shit goes down.

By the way, I have to say it's one of the most insane shit I've ever seen where you have the people who are adapting a work of fiction to so publicly and clearly trying to run as fast as humanely possible away from the creator of said work of fiction. Everytime, they fight tooth and nail (even if they LIE to people) about how the adaptation has the blessing and is authentic to the creator. And here we have the opposite approach. That shit is nuts to me.

Does anyone know how the Miles Morales upgrade will work if you want the PS5 version of Spider-Man?

My understanding is that there's a Deluxe version of Miles Morales to buy on PS5 that brings the PS5 version of the last Spider-Man game, but then I'm seeing that if you purchase MM for PS4 you'll get a free upgrade to the PS5 version?

So...does that mean an upgrade for Spider-Man also...? I'm guessing that'd be a separate purchase all together...but then again, I didn't know they'd be bringing the last Spidey game to PS5, either.

I've only seen the Spider-Man remaster mentioned as part of the Ultimate Edition, which makes me think it'll only be available as part of that package. Even if they did (unsurprisingly) decide to sell it standalone later, it's probably been long enough since the PS4 version's release that they probably wouldn't offer the same free upgrade option as with Miles Morales or Horizon: FW.

Oh, yeah I agree. I think it's been enough time that they don't have to offer the free upgrade for Spider-Man.

The only thing is, I would hope that they'll offer some kind of path for what I suspect might be alot of owners that will probably get Miles Morales for PS4, and would like to play both Spider-Man and Miles Morales on PS5 at some point without having to re-purchase Spider-Man at full price.

Though, I guess at this point the game is going for $20 on PS4...so I don't even know how that'd work for charging for what they're calling a remaster (which the idea that we're already going to be calling PS4 games getting remastered is nuts to me).

Jeez, the changing into new generation hardware can be so damn tricky.

@zoofame

Yeah, that was really something. Taking a step back at looking at how that's all working out, and the way Sony was messaging this system in a way that seemed to justify some of the decisions they're making and to just have them backhand all of the stuff they were saying for months was...kind of amazing.

Yeah...I have to agree. Up until this point, I felt that Sony was winning the battle of messaging to a certain degree. But, after Microsoft announced the pricing...I don't know what happened.

I think Sony very much undercut it's own messaging, the same one they've been building and building upon, with the strange announcement that the two biggest games they'd have in the launch window (Spidey and Horizon) aren't PS5 exclusives, but will be on PS4 as well.

It very much drops a brick on the notion that these games NEED to be on the upcoming consoles.

And then the pre-ordering chaos that's been bubbling for a while kinda hit last night with the madness over finding a place to pre-order. I think from the jump, Sony gathering people's email and PSN ID's as some kind of lottery to be able to pre-order seemed to confuse way more people than it should have. And right now, even though everyone was assured that there'd be enough in stock to order...you've got a least a thousand units already being flipped on Ebay (and this is just all pre-orders).

I don't know, the winds can change suddenly and maybe I'm just looking at it from my own strange perspective here. But, it definitely feels like Sony's lost the reigns on the overall message they've been trying to convey to consumers, and it's gotten away from them right now. Whereas I get the sense that Microsoft is in a better place than they were, say, three or four months ago.

With that said, too. I think both of them are very much, struggling with the biggest question and the biggest aspect of messaging for both these consoles. Which is, why do you need to buy one this Holiday season? Both Sony and Microsoft cannot seem to make that pitch and convey as to why we should.
