Like the art, the music, the ideas. If only this was half the length, or as multiple reviewers pointed out, let the player walker faster. Here's to hoping the devs patch it somehow.
This will be a moment referenced in GOTY discussions for Into the Breach.
It captures the feeling of barely squeaking by as everything seems on the verge of disaster.
It also shows how well designed the UI is, with clear info and no guess work, even for people without much exposure to the game at all.
And the freedom of options the game allows. You can shoot empty space, move targets you are supposed to protect, attack your own mech to shove it into attack range, etc.
One other major positive not shown here is how different each squad feels.
@paulunga: no shame playing on easy. I think I got through easy with buildings taking only 1 hit total. Also the pilots only level up twice, so losing and starting over isn't that big of a deal progress-wise. You also get to rewind the whole turn once (twice if you have the pilot with a perk) every battle.
I definitely went into a Destiny-like "min max" mode, and got to where Dan is now in about half the time (~20 hours). I actually don't recommend using the light bowgun which, like Jeff talked about for the dual blade, is effective but kind of boring.
Now that I'm seeing Crackdown 1's gameplay again after so long, I realize that Crackdown 3's E3 showing actually looked a lot like 1. As with everyone else, I thought the animations looked stiff, but it might have just been a faithful recreation of 1? I do hope the devs got the memo and worked on improving things since the delay. Crackdown 1 is not beloved enough to be worth keeping "traditions".

Also worth pointing out, as it keeps coming up, this series didn't start as a fighting game. Dynasty Warriors 9 is the 8TH game in the spin off series, called Shin SangokumusÅ, from the fighting game, which was called SangokumusÅ, in Japan. They're just all named the same outside of Japan.
yeah the naming really confused me at first. The Japanese/Chinese numbering is always 1 less than the English version.
