SMB, SMB 2:Lost Levels, SMB 2, SMB3, SMW, SMW 2, 64, Sunshine, Galaxy, Galaxy 2, and Odyssey. Yoshi’s island counts because Miyamoto considers it a core Mario game.

Honestly, this year has bummed me out videogame-wise. I'm looking at 2021 as one of the top two worst years for my personal gaming taste (2014 was up there). I finished Village and Ratchet and Clank without much enthusiasm. I did spend a hot second with Griftlands but was done with it when I finished the first storyline. Death's Door seems cute and Imma check that out next.

Everything the OP mentioned is valid. It’s the dumbest the story has been ...maybe ever. And that’s saying a lot considering RE5 and RE6 exist. The remakes of the first two games are my favorite in the series. They’re re also the most straight forward survival horror. So naturally I feel similar when Capcom shifts the franchise to a more action oriented game ( Village becomes indistinguishable from a COD game towards the end). I hate Ethan Winters as a character and I think the use of universal studios monsters, and what amounts to essentially magic is a bad direction for the series. It’s like they are on a cycle of knocking it outof the park and then slowly unlearning those lessons only to then rediscover their roots and come back strong again. That said, I loved RE4. It made a certain kind of sense within the rules of the universe they established even if it was real silly. It was still full of action while being tense and 8 does that part effectively too. I didn’t hate 8. I think it’s middle of the pack as far as how well it plays and how it uses tension effectively. I just think it may as well have been a stand alone original IP with no ties to the franchise. I liked it for what it was but I feel your complaints.

People seem to be saying it starts slow, and is tutorilized/linear for the first 10 hours. That has put me off more than anything. My patience for games to ramp up to "the good part" is at an all time low.

Tony Hawk was the game that brought me the most joy in 2020. Hades would be my #2. I'm frothing at the mouth to play Demon Souls and Yakuza. No luck getting next gen consoles though.

Rowling doesnt strike me as a hateful person. Misinformed, yes. But she doesnt seem completelty reprehensible based on her tweets alone. At its core, wasnt the messaging that the expierences of a person with an xx chromosome and female genitalia inherently different than variations from that norm?

My wife doesn't play games so we haven't clicked on many despite trying a lot of different options. We did enjoy and finish Streets of Rage 4. She likes to watch Fall Guys and would tune in to most of The Last if Us 2.

@redcream: Ill preface this by saying, I'm trying my best not to be annoyed with or angry at people who dont matter - that is angry at anybody like an entertainer or public figure even if they are deserving of that anger (i.e. Trump). I do think Ron is annoying. He acted like a major ass at a comedy club in San Antonio a couple years back. Im not so thin skinned that I cant handle someone taking shots at my community or the city I live in. But he didnt give me a reason to like him after that either...not that it matters. People were laughing at his jokes during his set...maybe not enough people for his liking. He used that as an excuse to storm off in a huff. Not before he told everyone to go fuck themselves, trashed the city for being catholic, bragged about how much money he had and threatened to kick anyones ass who approached him. Aside from that, I find his voice to be nails on a chalkboard and I think he is Dane Cook / Carlos Mencia / Kevin Hart level hack.
