I'm almost done. I felt like I was about to return it last night after 15 levels of hell, but I finally bought a new assault rifle and I wasn't absolutely horrendous anymore (went from the M14 to the FAMAS). I just feel like despite its unbalanced gameplay (MW2's air-support clogged skies), ubiquitous dual shotguns, tac knives, and noob tubes...Modern Warfare 2 is just more fun to play.

The perks in Black Ops don't seem to differentiate one class from the next very much, whereas in MW2 there was always some huge trade-off from choosing one perk over another. I just feel like Treyarch took their fixes a little too far, and sucked the fun out of it. Not to mention most of the maps are mystifying labyrinths with nonsensical layouts. At least I felt like in MW2 if one class or playstyle just wasn't working I could switch to another, vastly different loadout and have fun. Not so in Blackops.

So, I'm basically done. I'll give it another week, and if I still don't like it I'm going to trade it in for Battlefield BC2 or something new for a change. Hell, maybe I'll even get MW2 again.

You know, I had the same feeling. I've played plenty of violent games, seen plenty of violent movies, but something about that decapitation sequence just did not sit well with me. Maybe it's the fact that I could tell Helios was in such excruciating pain (I mean you could seen his eyes crossing in agony for chrissake), or the fact that I failed to press the buttons correctly so I had to see the expression on his face allll over again. Then again, my girlfriend and roommate were also present, and both of them seemed a bit put off by it too. Maybe it was just social pressure? Maybe I was really just disgusted.

Even so...I'll still probably buy it.
