@davidh219: Up till now, they've always picked the top voted game from the thread. This time Toonstruck gathered 17 votes and both Legend of heroes: Trails in the Sky and Kerbal Space Program followed with 5 votes.
From the description Abrams and Mustard give this seems like some Clash of Clans style base building mixed with some MGSV's style of FOB missions? Build up your player character who has to infiltrate other player created spy bases for loot and glory.
Jeff and Jason flailing around reminds me of the old Thunderbirds TV show. And now I can't stop thinking which GB member would match with which Thunderbirds member.
The game in this collection (that we all know) is often called "Turtle" or "Mahjong solitaire"; it uses the tiles from Mahjong. Other than that, it's unrelated.
And like with most "card" games, there are a ton of different variations based on where you are playing and who you are playing with. Traditional Chinese Mahjong is very similar to rummy. American Mah Jongg (also called NMJL, or Jewish Mah Jongg) is like the bastard child of rummy and hearts.
Yeah, there are tons of differences between different variations. Chinese versions usually have bunch of extra tiles compared to what I usually play, which is Riichi Mahjong - the Japanese variation. Not even getting into house rules and whatnot.
Years of looking into shady arcade Mahjong games have taught me not to trust people who know Japanese Mahjong.
So, Fame Douglas Ziff Davis used to publish a video game magazine, Electronic Gaming Monthly. John Ricciardi and Mark Macdonald were both editors there. At some point, Ziff Davis wanted a video game website, so they bought Gamespot (anyone from the early days of Gamespot maybe remembers ZDNet Gamespot). Familiar names such as Jeff, Greg and Ryan. At some point Cnet bought what was then known as ZDNet, including Gamespot.
Afterwards, Ziff Davis wanted an online "supplement" of EGM, so they started 1UP. And that's where Patrick comes in the picture.
