A Columbo type murder mystery RPG, plays like mass effect in a 70's open world, with a beat up middle aged detective as the hero. You converse, fight and progress in third person, levelling up skills etc. But you also commit all the murders in first person throughout the game as lengthy set pieces... so clue finding is secondary as they are revealed as you commit the crimes. Focus is on discussion, combat and exploration (just like mass effect). Along the way you would solve numerous crimes as side missions buying new trenchcoat armour and weapons with your pay.

You are effectively chasing your own tail, building up a rapport with the killer (that you also feel as you play as him) but never sure who it is till the endgame.

@Animasta: I am aware of this, companies will simply outsource the development to areas where wages are lower. That was my point.

The ones that don't will charge twice as much for their games or go bust.

This is clever. They get to say they are empowering their users. They remove awkward questions of what goes on their service and I am pretty sure people who use this will buffer sales of the stuff they vote to add. Win, win.

Time to dust off that design doc for a Wayne's World Sims expansion.

Really? You think this type of rant actually stops the comments he recieves, or makes the games better? Give me the days when a developer had no line of communication with us at all other than the games they make any day. I wasn't rude about him, I actually see what he is saying...
