This isn't any more violent than Looney Tunes or Animaniacs. And it's not graphic violence, with blood and guts spilling all over the place like Gears of War. I find this pretty harmless, while Gears of War even if you try to justify it, is over exaggerated and glorified violence. Me myself I don't have a problem with violence as long as it stays in games and movies, but some other people might be influenced.

I used to enjoy moshing at punk shows, until I got someones elbow in the jaw and chipped my molar. Nothing too bad but you know, I'd rather just enjoy the music without getting hurt.

Starcraft is kind of interesting in that it's a game of regimented build orders and extremely fluid reaction based strategies that exist within an eternally evolving metagame.

So fucking deep maaaaan

Don't mean to offend really, I just thought that sentence was funny.

Yup the game was the shit. And it usually it takes a couple games in a franchise for IO to get it right (remember the first Hitman? Or more recently Kane and Lynch, those games are awful) but Freedom Fighters was nearly flawless.

@crusader8463: I'm not trying to get into an argument, but in my personal opinion it is not necessary to have over the top graphics, animation, etc. to be emotional and show the horrors of war. I mean, it doesn't even necessarily have to be an FPS. It doesn't have to be epic, it could just be focused on one battle that was particularly horrific and the game would only last 2-3 hours. There are a myriad of possibilities for telling an emotional war story while being indie/low budget.

They don't do it because they design the games to appeal to an audience that just wants to fist bump their dude bros and talk about pwning n00bs. They don't play the game for story or immersion.
I think there is a market now for more "serious" games, but I admit they will sell less than the Call of Dutys and Halos etc.
If you are willing to go small enough there is a market for anything, but to make the kind of game the OP is asking for would cost the millions that the big budget shooter takes and no company would ever do it because they would never make it back.
I think you could make a game that fits the conditions OP mentioned and be indie/low budget. I mean did he even mention that it had to be a big budget game?

It needs to be darker, I think games take the war theme and violence too lightly. I would love it if there was a game which criticizes war as Full Metal Jacket did.

Lots of love for spanish horror films, I didn't realize until now that Spain has made some pretty good horror flicks in the last ten years.
