Games can not live on graphics alone 2

What would you do if your life as you know it was taken away because of one mistake? What if the most powerful crime lord in the country wanted you dead? What would you do if you were trying to review a game that only has one really good quality, but that one this is perfectly executed? The predicament I'm in doesn't seem so serious now, does it? In Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days you play as James Lynch, a psychotic ex-convict who's working for a crime boss in Shanghai. Lynch has as good a life...

Crackdown 2 Review 1

By nature, sequels give a creator a chance to take a hard look at their first effort and make changes accordingly, fixing the flaws and building on the strengths of the original. Great sequels deliver fresh, new content and fix past issues while preserving, if not improving, the core strengths of the first game. Crackdown 2 is not a great sequel. In Crackdown 2 you play as a superhuman Agent, working for The Agency. Set ten years after the first game, Pacific City is overrun by day by a te...

Alpha Protocol Review 7

Alpha Protocol is a game that sounds really good, in theory. Playing as an international super-spy with lots of cool gadgets and resources, a branching storyline that changes with almost every choice you make, and a blend of stealth, third person shooting and RPG elements all sound like lots of fun. It's just too bad that in practice, the game isn't fun at all. In Alpha Protocol you fill the shoes of Micheal Thorton, a man who, as the game starts, is being inducted into a top-secret government o...

Nier review (insert witty pun here) 0

I'm going to get this out of the way right at the start. Nier is not for everyone. Most people will be turned off by its boring fetch quests, simple combat, dated visuals and ugly protagonist (not to mention the awful, mandatory fishing minigame). But if you are like me and have a thing for interesting, if imperfect, ideas then Nier might be worth checking out.  Nier is a (oh-so) Japanese action role playing game where you play as the father of a girl named Yonah. Yonah is sick  with a quite pos...

Just Cause 2 Review 3

Just cause 2 is an open world game that delivers on what it promised: parachutes, grappling hooks and lots of flambuoyant, silly, and over-the-top action. The game plays to it's strengths, and seldom will you feel forced into something you don't want to do. In Just Cause 2 you play as CIA agent Rico Rodriguez, (aka the Scorpion) as he drives, flies, skydives, parachutes and grapples around a small, fictional South Asian island country called Panau. Throughout the game, Rico is working for three...
