I'm just glad the characters look like full people. And the animations seem good in a way that we might see the return of good-ass critical hit animations? Maybe?
Oh, man, the last thing I miss from 2D Fire Emblem... the slick sprite art and the awesome critical animations.
That new Fire Emblem looks baller. I'm so glad they're walking back from some of the dumb pandering and questionable game design they did in the 3DS games.
@seikenfreak: I had that game back in the day! It's actually pretty simplistic, but I remember being impressed with the graphics at the time. All the different robots had destructible armor, kinda like the clothing damage in Soul Calibur.
It makes you wonder how this game would have reviewed without that first trailer setting everyone's expectations....
That being said, Jeff's point about the story aspect being a missed opportunity sounds valid either way.
I don't know, actually. It makes me wonder if the game hypothetically had strong conservative-friendly pro-rural message would it be getting trashed even worse in the reviews. While that first marketing push made it seem like they were making some kind of anti-Trump satire, my understanding is that most Far Cry games try to have you sympathize with your allied faction.
I feel like most of the reviews that complain the game is too "indecisive" are actually just complaining that game's story wasn't pro-liberal enough, but the reviewers aren't willing to admit that for whatever reason. This is not just about Jeff, but places like Polygon and Waypoint as well. I have no problem with criticizing a game for not aligning with your politics, but I really feel like professionals shouldn't be coy about it.
Actually, @benpack, if Magneto stopped the Earth's rotation, every terrestrial lifeform would most likely be instantly killed. The Earth rotates at 1,000 mph at the equator (less at the poles). The fish and birds would be fine as the fluids they're floating in would also keep moving.
So imagine hitting whatever is to the west of you at Mach 2. That's what it would be like.
@revenantxenos: Shinji is an anithero, you aren't supposed to like him. The creator (Hideaki Anno) was horrifically depressed at the time of making the show, and Shinji is basically an author self-insert.
@overbite: And not only that, but also have several of the games not even be in that genre, either. It's whatevs; I've said my piece about this feature before.
I am glad Abby and Ben were able to show us some games they felt strongly about.
