My thoughts on Punch-Out!! Wii

After running to Best Buy before it closed to pick up a copy of Punch-Out!!, I rushed home, popped it in my Wii, and beat it in a little over 2 hours. I was very surprised that I was able to blow through the first part of the career so quickly and also was amazed at myself for beating a Punch-Out!! game for the first time (if beating the first part of the career counts). Then I was presented with a chance to play through the career again to defend my title against the same people, but with different patterns. It wasn't until I started to play through this mode where I began to feel like I was playing an actual Punch-Out!! game.

For those who are getting agrivated at the final boxers in the first part of the career, you have no idea what awaits you once you become champion. I have only managed to make it up to King Hippo in this section and cannot read him well enough to knock him out. His patterns go from somewhat predictable to your lucky if you dodged the right way at the right time without thinking. In other words, the difficulty goes from easy to medium-hard toward the end of the first part of the career and when entering the second, quickly goes from hard to very hard within the first circuit.

That's about as much as I can say about the game at the moment. I have always loved the Punch-Out!! series for being simple to play, but a challenge that will truely test you and awards you with a sense of accomplishment that once achieved, feels like no other. You've seen videos and read reviews and now it's time for you to go out and get this game if you are looking for a challenge. Weaklings and whiners may still have fun with the game if they take the time to learn the patterns but if not, stay away.
