• Hands down, my game of the year is Super Meat Boy. Bugs aside, this is the perfect game. The skill you develop here is tangible and not stat-driven and the sense of satisfaction you get after beating a hard-as-nails level is incredible. Just be prepared for some of the most brutal and precise platforming around.

 • Once Picross entered my DS, it didn't leave until I had unlocked and completed every single puzzle available. The logic-based puzzles presented here are good for short periods or long nights. My only complaint; no classic Nintendo characters!

 • Rock Band 3 added keys and pro-modes, but I have neither a keyboard or pro-mode compatible guitar, so why is this on the list? The minor tweaks Harmonix have made, such as drop-in / drop-out multiplayer and the added fidelity in music manager filters have made this the definitive version of their plastic instrument franchise. But why, why did you remove support for the Rock Band Stage Kit Harmonix!?

 • Bayonetta is a seizure waiting to happen. At any point, there is so much going on that any onlookers will be scratching their heads or biting their wallets. Somehow, though, as the player, it is smooth as silk. The combat in Bayonetta is extremely satisfying, easy to get a hang of, and a must-play for anyone yearning for the days when Devil May Cry ruled the PS2.

 • Losing the overworld and most of the story presented in the original Super Mario Galaxy, this rare direct-sequel boils the Galaxy gravity-bending gameplay down to its core. Each level is unique and each presents enough challenges to replay over and over again.
