Y'know, he'd be a good pick. He's got that kinda sardonic snark that fits well with Brad or Jeff, but like you mentioned he's got a passion for a segment of the gaming spectrum not covered on the site much. Plus, he and Jason would likely bond over their love of weird Japanese games.

However, given the options above, I chose Mary. I don't think she'd make the move, but she's my favorite on that list.

@bombedyermom: Same for me, though I did play through Metroid Prime Trilogy a couple times on my family's Wii when I was home from college.

Anyway, point is, this is probably the best looking Nintendo console in a while, imo. Really am curious about the library as well. I mean, I'll likely get it since I can count the number of announced 2017 games I'm interested in on one hand, and Breath of the Wild is at the top. The question then becomes, what next? New Mario doesn't totally sell me, though I'm interestred. And the thought of both the console and handheld teams consolidating behind a single platform is really intriguing -- A full-on console Monster Hunter or Pokemon game sounds rad to me.

I think have all first party games coming out on one console is gonna really do them wonders in terms of library size. I mean, I already mostly play games on my PS4 anyway, I'm up for Switch being a really fun, quirky second console.

Also, I think I'm still on board with this game. I like the atmosphere it provides, and the space flight looks fun. the only bummer is that it looks like the early hours are a bit tedious, though it sounds like that may fade a bit as you move closer to the center and the types of planets and other things you discover become more varied? I also think the lack of story, or at least the minimalism of it, is appealing. It almost reminds me of Metroid in some ways, between the scanning, exploring, weird alien artifacts and such.

Totally. And since it looks like it's an ice age game, that's exactly what I'm expecting.

I'm seeing a lot of people complaining that they aren't playing as Big Boss, and because of that, I feel the need to point this out one more time: Big Boss is like Batman; a title and a persona, not a singular person. Batman is not just Bruce Wayne, as many people have taken on the cowl to further the legend of Batman.

In much the same way, you (Venom Snake) are taking on the title of Big Boss (albeit against your will), to further the legend that began with Naked Snake. No, you're not not playing as Naked Snake, but you are absolutely playing as the the real Big Boss throughout all of MGSV because, again, Big Boss is a legend/title, not a person.

@galacticpunt: Thing is though, you are snake, Venom Snake. You're not Naked Snake. You'e the 5th snake. Similarly, you are the real Big Boss, as Big Boss is just a legend and a title, and not the man himself. Both Venom and Naked Snake are Big Boss. You're playing as Big Boss the entire time.

You did though, but just one half of the Big Boss persona. If you're bummed about not playing as John/Jack/Naked Snake, I understand, but he doesn't "exist" by this point anyway. Arguably, much like medic dies and becomes Big Boss, Naked Snake died to become his own part of the Big Boss legend. We played through the fall (or, the bgeginning of the fall) of the entire Big Boss legend. It'd be like playing a game where we take on the roll of a non-Bruce Wayne Batman who turns evil and tarnishes the name. It wouldn't matter that we weren't in Bruce Wayne, because Batman is bigger than Bruce Wayne, much like how Big Boss is bigger than Naked Snake. Instead, in this case we're taking Big Boss from heroic leader to rutheless mercenary. We played as Big Boss and that's what matters

Naked Snake never "fell" in that regard; like Fillip details in his write up, Naked Snake's deception was subtle. He still had a hand to play in the fall of the Big Boss legend, but it wasn't his hand directly. And really, it was always our hand, in reality, that was doing these things anyway.

Big Boss, Venom Snake, Naked Nake, Solid Snake, Raiden... they're all the same person... They're you, maaaaaaan.

There is a relatively sound reason as to why Venom Snake doesn't talk as we've come to expect from Hayder-voiced Snake in the past. Just keep playing.
