@evanbrau: Who's to say that'd be like us at all? I think people only think that because we can't think outside our human minds. Who's to say that an alien species doesn't exist on Neptune? I think a lot of us are thinking that life-forms can only evolve through water and whatnot, when really... we don't know shit about space, for the most part, and we're limited to studying only the lifeforms on Earth... which are water-based. Why couldn't a species evolve out of helium?
I think the most simple solution would be to run the Windows7 boot disc at start up and just do a startup repair with it. That should fix your problem, if that doesn't fix it then try some of the other suggestions.
You can literally start from any game you want; it's not like you're missing key story-arcs or anything. It's a Pokemon game. Just a warning though, the Pokemon after Gold/Silver are a little... how do I say this: terrible... at least in terms of design.
