I have the latest Kindle (without touch & keyboard) and a Kindle Fire. Both are suited to my needs. I think Kindle Fire is severely lacking as a tablet, especially compared to the HP Touchpad I purchased at a cheaper price, but otherwise, I dig it.

Even though I'm still not exactly sure if I'll be watching WrestleMania this weekend, I'd probably turn off the PPV in disgust if HHH wins.

UC3 is a hell of a game and an actual improvement on the second title (at least from a gameplay perspective), and the multiplayer is pretty damn fun on its own right. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

I'm down like a clown, Charlie Brown. Gimme more of that Christian Side Hug goodness that is Audiosurf.

@Skald said:

Essentially, "songs that don't tell stories are fine"

What an edgy thesis.

Essentially, "make a highly generalized statement about the discussion, follow it up with a witty barb".

Success!

@Godlyawesomeguy: @D0tti: People dig his image (he's a top selling rap artist for a reason), I kinda just focus on the music because his persona is so unoriginal these days. I'm not the biggest Rick Ross fan by any means, but I like a good amount of his songs, so whatever. Again, his beats are far superior to his rapping abilities (you can listen to GhostFace Killah or really any other gangsta rap artist & get a better wordsmith) but I gotta say, his stuff gets under me. I feel like guilty pleasures shouldn't exist in this day and age- if you like it, you like it, who cares?

@DoctorWelch: So here's the thing, you can't fault LMFAO for being something they're not, just like you can't fault a 12 year old's home movie for not being Citizen Kane. They're not making super deep, melodic electronic music that'll be revered in critical circles. LMFAO set out to make fun, if vapid, party music that they can enjoy and that the masses can enjoy as well. They're successful at that, regardless if you like them or not. Is there any real merit, or meaning hidden in their music? No, I can't say that there is. It is what it is. Should they aim higher? Yeah, probably, but why should they when they're having fun & making money doing what they love? Like I alluded to before, I'd much rather listen to LMFAO, an intentionally, self-aware but vapid group, than someone like Ke$ha or Katy Perry who shill an awkward, shallow image of girl power underneath the oversexualized image.

I doubt LMFAO is the reason why your favorite independent artists aren't getting noticed though, but that's the name of the game. You can have it all- talent, looks, the "it" factor, and still not make it. Sometimes music hits with the general population, sometimes it doesn't. And, I've gotta say, there aren't all that many artists out there that will cross over significantly mainstream. I'm sorry, but a Sharon Van Etten or a Black Kids or Hot Chip probably won't be hitting the top of the Billboard 200 anytime soon, let's admit it. There's enough room in the industry that we can like whatever we want and leave the people who like the mainstream stuff alone. Our music is better, anyway. Why harp on what they're listening to when we can just hear LCD Soundsystem's Sound of Silver for the upteenth time?

I'm about to watch The Hunger Games in an hour or so with my mom, I just finished the book last night. I liked the book overall, but it has some issues that don't sit well with me (then again, I'm a jaded college student, not a 15-year-old girl who loves to read). It sounds like the film is expanding upon what I didn't like about the book & de-emphasizing what I did, so I'm gonna go in with lower expectations, but I'm still looking forward to it.

@Godlyawesomeguy: What you know about Rick Ross?

But seriously, that's his whole gimmick. He took the name from the drugpusher "Rick Ross" and basically models his rap image after Scarface (the movie, not the rapper). It's his schtick. Not an original one, but he does it well, I feel, if only because the beats to a lot of his songs are pretty sweet.

Speaking of which:

Yeah, that new season was just kinda OK, but I think nostalgia made it seem like the original series better than it actually ways. The new series still had a lot of broad humor, easy slapstick & puns/pop culture references, it was just redundant in the day and age where Family Guy, South Park, every single non-reality show on E!, Comedy Central & VH1 were all doing it in some way. It wasn't as fresh as it was back in the early 2000s.

I don't think we'll see the show anytime soon, but hey, if Beavis & Butthead could be revived into a show that's as good as, if not significantly better (I think it might be the latter) as the original series, anything is possible. Personally, I'm just looking forward to the rumored Clerks: The Animated Series reboot...

I don't mind LMFAO like how other people do. It's intentionally vapid & shallow party music, the equivalent of cotton candy- sweet and sugary and goes down easily but no real substance underneath. I like a handful of their songs because they're just a pretty damn fun group. They know they're just making party music & just going with it. It's not like how Katy Perry comes in with this fake, somehow "original" stand about feminism & has music videos where she shoots whipped cream off her tits, or Ke$ha who is most likely mentally handicapped.

I've actually seen LMFAO live (back in Sept 2010- Sorry For Party Rocking hadn't debuted yet, so no "Party Rock Anthem" or "Sexy & I Know It" as of that time) and surprisingly had a good time. Their exuberance and energy throughout the show was commendable, and I couldn't help but get into it, even if I don't find all of their music all that great.

Yes, there is better "party" music out there. But that's not music necessarily for the masses. Yes, this is simple stuff, stuff that isn't particularly hard to make & actually is flawed from a musician's perspective. Like I had told a buddy of mine on Twitter, hating on LMFAO's music is like pointing out the plot holes and generic storylines in a rom-com: it might entertain you to do so & complain about it, but girls (and to an extent, guys like myself) will love it regardless.
