Games that would be improved with the inclusion of the Star Trek battle music
The theme that punctuates the epic fight scene between Kirk and Spock in Star Trek: TOS episode Amok Time is perhaps one of the greatest orchestral compositions of our generation. Now I know that some of you might be wondering what in the hell I'm talking about. Let me begin by first saying I'm not mad at you, just disappointed. With that out of the way, I present to you the fight scene in question:
As completely enthralling, tense and totally not cheesy as the choreography and cinematography is, this scene wouldn't be half of what it is without that song. The song feels like a B-side to The Rite of Spring, punctuated by shrill, discordant tones played ad nauseum , and I use that term literally since the whole thing is obscenely unsettling. In fact, probably the only thing worse than how unsettling the song is, is how ludicrously catchy it is. Oftentimes I catch myself playing a game and getting flashbacks to this scene, and invariably wind up singing the hook to myself as I wreck digital fools. So take note, publishers and developers of the following games: if you want to markedly improve your title, license this goddamn song and play it during every battle.
