In order.

Honorable mention: P.T. -- I would put this at #2 if it was considered a game in the GB database. Would easily pay a ridiculous sum of money for horror game episodic content of this quality.

List items

  • The game was great, and the DLC was an unabashed lover letter to the fans. <3

  • Breathtaking visuals, imaginative and very atmospheric, great music, pretty straightforward puzzles, and a world that is a lot of fun to explore.

Scratched my Dear Esther/Gone Home itch this year.

  • Surprise pick for me. Cyberpunk & noir settings tend to be my least favorite, and I'm not a big fan of Bastion-style combat.

However the music and story rocket this game to the top of my list, incredibly beautiful and affecting. Also really appreciate the freedom and smart design of the combat system.

  • Bayonetta.

  • Without a doubt the most interesting VN game I've played. I really liked the character design, and those cutscenes at the end of the chapters really knocked my socks off for some reason.

  • I'll say I'm only halfway through but I know without a doubt something is up with those characters and I can't wait to find out what it is.

  • The game I've put hundreds of hours into watching and playing gets an enhanced update with new characters, items, and synergies. And it's free on PS and Vita?!

  • Great MMO-style exploration areas, and story sections of a caliber you won't find in any MMO. The scenery is pretty damn incredible too.

  • Incredible visuals, meticulously designed scenery, and a mind-blowing sense of speed. Somehow reminds me of Outrun which as a kid I always wanted to play more of.

I am the only person on the planet who wasn't bothered by the online issues, but hey those on-the-fly challenges are actually pretty neat too.

  • What I wanted Resident Evil 5 to be.
