@topcyclist: Well yes, you are correct, they all follow the money, but many many publishers dont even bother with violent themes because it usually involves extra paperwork aswell, extra steps, and this means less money as you mentioned so they avoid it for as long as they can, but there are always exceptions of course!

Regarding your PS: I actually was wondering about that, its just a matter of time before something exactly like that pops out. I give it until the end of the year imo. I actually just finished working on my first ever game and should be releasing it soon and I can say a lot of people want that kind of games, kinda kills the creative side and bombards the market with similiar games that are money machines and not actually games

Great point. I look forward to your game and the passion you can smell oozing out of a good passionate work without all the corporate oversight to only care about money. Not saying companies all do this. Say what you will but even the most corporate-like Fortnite does seem to have passion in just letting people have pure fun otherwise their storylines would be a lot more safe. Or for a better example, Last of Us 2 could have given people the hero's journey and success feel good grizzled dude dude wins it all with everyone around him having bad stuff happen and not him much like the first game which is nice but the took a chance and made it the way they wanted for better or worst. Or even Kojima even if you dont like the game, telling marketing teams your main ability is travel and you piss to attack people...yeah, I'm guessing once you have clout you can stop just being safe, so I see your point. Exceptions don't prove that safe is easy safe sells on paper. Not certain on the numbers in reality and if it's really what the public enjoys or if we get it most so we're used to it and think it's good. Like how beauty standards are manipulated by industry not our true perceived feelings (for many not all) of people, or how fashion is highly regulated and sold to us not cause we always like the stuff, music, so on. Games seem to be a bastion of hope in art in that there are so many and the game enthusiast are so willing to keep them available even when they are "bad". Violent or not, childish or not, someone who's an adult buys cooking mama and gears of war...Me...i did.

Yes but the problem with the games industry is that good passionate games most of the time dont have the means to tell people "Hey, I exist!", while there are obviously exceptions, most of them go un-noticed. The indie term helped a lot but still the big corporate industry pumping money gets the bigger share, im sure behind every big corporate game is a developer with heart but usually im sure if they try to speak out they get blasted with data that says the other way gives more cash and he/her is ignored, but again, thats all my two cents, for example, a lot of people liked my game from what they say and even the people who are early testing it right now say they are having fun, but I have no clue where or how to share my game to the people that like that kind of game, in this case, its a pixel-art game (kind of a tribute thing to the old school games, but yeah) and a lot of followers say "why am I only seeing this now" and my answer is always "im trying my best", since its a free game I cant throw money into advertising it so it just gets shown to a very small number of people.

Violence will not come to games because publishers and stuff dont usually endorse this type of games, at least thats my opinion, so usually you will see something like fall guys at most, but again, thats my two cents

I don't think it has ever happened. If it's really bad, i just play the game muted.
