The developers have a knack for making this game look dope when they play it. That said, I saw this at Day of the Devs and every single person who tried it out stumbled terribly and made it look clumsy as hell. I don't know if it's a fault of the game or not, but no matter who it is, no beginner is gonna do the shit you see in GIFs.
That's the point of the game, to play and learn how to not be a beginner.
@fatalbanana: Heh, I've not contributed to Truestyle but I know of it I thought I'd just state that its a cool thing that people do and because its not well known doesn't mean it should be devalued.
Regarding DmC I think it's a fine game but I also think the backlash against it is a sizeable group of people all with their own minigroups of why they want to shit on it. Some people it was just the hair, others it was the bad writing or the overly simplified combat systems. Then there's the people who were fed up with people over simplifying why they had distaste for DmC and disregarded them as elitists who are just a worthless minority.
Me personally I think its probably the best playing Western action game, but as you say it "wasn't a terrible, generic, trash fire that ruined the series." I would argue that if we ended up with just more DmC instead of the original series it most certainly would have ruined the series for me.
It had some good ideas, and they've made their way into DMC4SE and now DMCV and they're better games for it. But what it did wrong was just so overwhelming awful.
@oursin_360: Yes and no, when it changes your character over it brings back the punching bag enemies for a period of time so you can acclimate yourself to the new character much better.
Then it will start reintroducing the more involved enemies and new ones once you start getting used to that new character.
You can mock it all you want but it's a thing people care about and it garnered a community around a single player series that had no intention of that outcome.
Whether its common knowledge or not is irrelevant, these games are niche they cater to niche tastes. Stripping out what makes it niche is stripping out the most important parts of the franchise to some people.
