I'm currently working my way through Undertale, and decided to go for the peaceful route (I just can't bring myself to hurt those monsters!). The loop I'm picking up right now in encounters is Act---> Dodge--> Act--> Dodge -->Mercy although some encounters have diverged a little bit from this. For the most part, I've been enjoying figuring out what makes each monster tick and how they want to be interacted with. I'm only a little more than a couple hours in (I'm at the part where Undyne fights you) so I'm curious to see where the game goes from here.
Great job as always, Austin. I especially like these pieces since they give me a chance to reflect on my games and interact with the site.
EDIT: Also, reading these makes me feel like you are way more efficient with your time than me.
I get the sense that this franchise is almost a throwback to PS2 Era open world games. It cares less about extracurriculars many open world games stuff their worlds full of and is just content letting you play in it's goofy word.
Great little piece, Austin. As for your question I think for me it would definitely be Limbo. On paper, this should be something I should enjoy. I've loved platformers since I was a kid and I'd heard nothing but good things about it. However when I started playing it, it felt like a slog. It felt too floaty, the puzzles weren't enjoyable, and the monochromatic world just didn't interest me. That being said I appreciated what it was trying to do in moving the genre forward.
I started 2, 6, 7, and 8 but never completed any of them, sadly. I especially regret not finishing Bastion since that one really grabbed me. Rocket League is probably going to be real high on my GOTY list. That game just gets me.
