I think it's entirely lame that people are upset that giant bomb didnt hire a statistic on a graph. I think this is really fucking dehumanizing of both the awesome new duders who got the job, but also any applications of any race/gender that applied. These people are basically reducing those applicants to a pie chart, a fucking NUMBER.
Do you not realize how fucking shitty it is to be told "We hired you because you're a woman." Yeah great, you're a classification, not a person. At least you got fucking hired in an attempt to make someone else LOOK GOOD.

Because of they've gotten endless harassment and threats from the turds of the Giant Bomb community. I think it's about time we wrangled some of those turds who are making us look bad.
Are these posts to get mad about? Don't seem like it to me. They get out on Twitter being pissed that they weren't hired, instantly assuming it's because they are women (which, I'm sorry Leigh but in your case the reason probably has something to do with your work not being great; if we were to accept the hypothesis of an unlikely situation where GB would exclusively hire white males, you still wouldn't be first pick) and these seem like civil responses to their assumptions to me? Or am I crazy? Maybe I am missing some context here, but saying 'fuck that site, I'm way better they should have hired me and they didn't because I'm a woman' and someone saying 'do you have any evidence to support that' in response to it seems like a normal and logical response to me. The 'fuck yourself' part doesn't.
Judging by their responses, it sounds like they wouldn't be good fits (they got SUPER mad about not getting the job, unless theres a timegap i'm missing it looks like a vitriolic response right out of the gate based on assumptions about Jefft?).
Yeah they don't deserve to be harassed but as those tweets being my only exposure to them as "personalities", they don't seem like they know what giant bomb is other than "a paycheck for games journalists". ???
Giant Bomb isn't about games writing, its about being funny and talking over a mic for hours a day every day of the week. It's kind of like a talkshow more than anything. Being a good writer won't get you hired to be an actor.
I started thinking about it again this week and it hit me how its almost a year in 3 days and it still feels unreal. I still feel upset and sad about it. The happiest videogames website in the world didnt deserve to lose such a fun guy.
Does this article feel messier than Patrick's usual stuff? There's just a ranty...messy feel about it. I don't really get a sense of what its about, like its jumping around to too many things at once.
I think the Facebook acquisition fucking sucks though. This version of this technology is dead with this acquisition. Sony's will probably be superior, but it may also show the ultimate marketing limitations of the technology. I'm anticipating a stark reminder of why VR *really* was gone.
@logan3: Thats a pretty presumptuous claim, especially with how expensive these specific characters are to produce. They have to pay testers to get it put up on microsoft's and sony's service. That's part of those company's terms and conditions. (quality assurance) Games aren't cheap. I trust these numbers.
